Job summary

Bajaj Auto Limited is seeking a Paint Shop Engineer to oversee daily operations in the Paint Shop, ensuring quality and on-time production. You will drive process improvements, lead TPM/OEE initiatives, and coordinate with QA and Engineering for defect reduction and new model trials.

The role requires hands-on knowledge of paint, plating and powder coating technologies, laboratory testing and safety/ISO compliance. Domestic travel may be occasional as part of project implementations.

Qualifications

• Educational requirements: Graduate in Paint technology or Mechanical Engineer with relevant experience.
• Knowledge of paint shop processes, lab testing, color matching and process documentation.
• Exposure to TPM, OEE, 5S and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Awareness of safety, environmental norms and ISO systems in Paint Shop operations.

Responsibilities

• Achieve daily/monthly production targets in Paint Shop with quality, cost and delivery adherence.
• Monitor Paint Shop processes including pretreatment, painting, curing and finishing.
• Ensure smooth operation of Paint Shop equipment and utilities (bells, conveyors, ovens).
• Drive line efficiency and productivity improvements; develop team capabilities.
• Coordinate with QA for defect reduction and root cause analysis; implement corrective actions.

6. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure achievement of daily/monthly production targets in Paint Shop with adherence to quality, cost and delivery requirements
• Monitor and control Paint Shop processes including pre-treatment, painting, curing and finishing operations
• Ensure smooth operation of paint shop equipment including painting bells, conveyors, ovens and utility systems
• Drive line efficiency, productivity improvement and manpower optimization initiatives
• Skill & capability development of team members
• Monitor critical process parameters and ensure process discipline for consistent paint quality
• Coordinate with QA for defect reduction, root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions
• Lead troubleshooting activities for production and process-related issues
• Ensure implementation and sustenance of TPM, 5S, Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives
• Drive OEE improvement and reduction in paint consumption, rework and rejection levels
• Coordinate with Engineering and Maintenance teams for process improvements and equipment modifications
• Ensure adherence to safety, environmental and statutory requirements in Paint Shop operations
• Support new model trials, engineering changes and process validation activities
• Develop team capability through training, skill development and performance monitoring
• Ensure proper production reporting, documentation and shift-wise performance review
• Drive cost optimization initiatives related to consumables, utilities and manpower utilization
