Qualifikationen

Aufgaben

  • Provide nursing care before, during and after surgery in OT.
  • Verify patient identity, consent, and required documentation.
  • Prepare OT, instruments, and consumables for procedures.
  • Assist surgeons, anaesthetists, and team during operations.

Job Description

OT Nurse is responsible for providing specialized nursing care and procedural support to patients undergoing surgical procedures in the operation theatre. The includes preoperative patient preparation, assisting surgeons and anaesthetists, maintaining sterile techniques, administering prescribed medications, monitoring patients, maintaining instrument and material counts, supporting postoperative transfer, maintaining OT documentation, and ensuring infection prevention and patient safety standards.

  • Provide nursing care to patients before, during, and after surgery.
  • Verify patient identity, procedure, consent, and required documentation.
  • Assess and record preoperative vital signs and relevant clinical information.
  • Prepare the operating theatre, equipment, instruments, and consumables.
  • Assist surgeons, anaesthetists, and other OT team members during procedures.
  • Maintain strict sterile and aseptic techniques.
  • Arrange and prepare surgical instruments according to procedure requirements.
  • Perform instrument, sponge, needle, and material counts as required.
  • Assist with safe patient positioning and transfer.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments as authorized.
  • Monitor patient condition and vital signs during procedures as required.
  • Assist with emergency procedures and resuscitation when required.
  • Maintain accurate OT registers, checklists, and nursing documentation.
  • Ensure proper identification and transfer of surgical specimens.
  • Coordinate with CSSD, pharmacy, laboratory, blood bank, and other departments.
  • Support safe transfer of patients to recovery, ICU, or ward.
  • Monitor immediate postoperative condition and report abnormalities promptly.
  • Ensure proper cleaning, disinfection, and OT turnover procedures.
  • Follow infection prevention, biomedical waste, and patient safety procedures.
  • Maintain patient privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and professional nursing standards.
