Detailed Job Description

As a Network Security Engineer – Fortinet supporting Cyfortix in a remote capacity across India (with preference for candidates based in Oman and willingness to travel across the GCC when required), you will take full operational, tactical, and analytical ownership of firewall policy management, centralized device provisioning, and log analytics. Your day-to-day responsibilities include deploying and tuning FortiGate firewalls running FortiOS, managing centralized policies via FortiManager, analyzing security telemetry through FortiAnalyzer, and resolving critical network security incidents. You will operate in a collaborative remote engineering environment while collaborating closely with IT infrastructure, security operations, and client management squads.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, configure, deploy, and maintain enterprise FortiGate firewalls running FortiOS across complex multi-site network environments.
• Administer centralized security policies, firmware upgrades, and device provisioning using FortiManager.
• Configure and manage log collection, event correlation, security reporting, and traffic analysis via FortiAnalyzer.
• Monitor network traffic, firewall telemetry, and security alerts to detect and remediate perimeter security vulnerabilities promptly.
• Collaborate closely with remote IT infrastructure and cybersecurity squads to ensure robust network segmentation and access control.
• Troubleshoot complex routing, VPN tunneling, IPsec, SSL-VPN, and firewall rule base issues across distributed systems.
• Travel across the GCC region on an as-needed basis to support on-site client deployments and security implementations.
• Maintain comprehensive network security documentation, firewall audit logs, and operational runbooks.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 2 to 3 years of progressive hands‑on professional experience in network security and perimeter defense administration.
• Mandatory, demonstrable hands‑on professional expertise in FortiGate Firewalls (FortiOS), FortiManager, and FortiAnalyzer.
• Comprehensive working knowledge and practical proficiency in TCP/IP networking, routing, switching, VPN tunnels, and VLANs.
• Solid practical grasp of firewall policy optimization, threat intelligence integration, and incident response procedures.
• Proven analytical problem-solving, troubleshooting, and cross-functional communication capabilities.
• Mandatory immediate joiner availability and legal work authorization for remote operations in India (Oman-based candidates preferred).
• Willingness to travel across the GCC region when required for project deployment and client engagements.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Professional Fortinet certifications such as Fortinet Network Security Expert 5 (NSE 5) or NSE 7 Enterprise Firewall.
• Prior professional working experience in dedicated cybersecurity firms, managed security service providers (MSSPs), or enterprise SOC environments.
• Hands‑on familiarity with cloud security architectures (AWS, Azure) and virtual firewall deployments (FortiGate-VM).
• Experience utilizing enterprise ticketing and ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow and Jira.
• Exposure to zero-trust network access (ZTNA) and software-defined WAN (SD-WAN) implementations.
