The role emphasizes Sophos XG/UTM deployment, VLAN routing, security audits, documentation, and collaboration with system administrators to ensure secure, high-performance connectivity and scalable infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of proven experience in network administration or engineering roles.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and subnetting.
• Hands-on experience with network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG).
• Proficiency in configuring and managing Cisco, Juniper, or similar network hardware.
• Knowledge of network security protocols and best practices.
• Experience working with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) is an added advantage.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Hands-on experience with Sophos XG/UTM firewall appliances, including deployment and advanced configuration.
• Strong knowledge of Layer 2/Layer 3 networking, VLANs, trunking, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), and NAT.
• Familiarity with monitoring and management tools such as SNMP, Wireshark, or SolarWinds.
• Understanding of secure network design, segmentation, and zero-trust principles.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and manage network infrastructure, including routers, switches, VLANs, and firewalls. Administer and maintain Sophos firewall environments, including policy configuration, VPN setup, IPS, and web filtering.
• Implement and manage VLAN routing to segment network traffic and enhance security and performance.
• Monitor and troubleshoot network connectivity issues, ensuring minimal downtime and optimized throughput.
• Collaborate with system administrators to ensure cohesive server-network integration and security posture.
• Conduct periodic security audits and vulnerability assessments on the network layer.
• Maintain up-to-date network documentation, including topology diagrams, configuration backups, and change logs.
• Provide escalation support for complex network issues and mentor junior IT staff on networking best practices.
• Stay informed on emerging network technologies and recommend improvements to enhance infrastructure efficiency.
• Perform any other duties as assigned from time to time.
