Job summary

The role requires 5–15 years of experience and a Second Class Mine Manager’s Certificate for Coal, with a Bachelor's in Mining Engineering.

  • Coordinate with colliery engineers; drive continuous improvement initiatives and preparatory works.
  • Manage equipment maintenance and contractor relations to support production targets.
  • Promote safety culture and ensure DGMS compliance and regulatory guidelines are followed.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration to deploy digital tools and improve team efficiency.

Job description

Purpose/Objective


  • Assistant Manager encompasses overseeing all aspects of mining operations, from planning and execution to resource management and quality control.

  • Responsible for ensuring adherence to approved plans and safety protocols, the Manager directs drilling, blasting, and coal seam removal activities, guiding shift leaders to meet production targets.

  • Collaborating closely with colliery engineers, they facilitate continuous improvement initiatives and preparatory works, while also managing equipment maintenance and contractor relations.

  • The Manager plays a pivotal role in driving productivity, cost reduction, and safety enhancement measures, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and DGMS standards.


Key Responsibilities of Role


  • Assistant Manager - Mine Ops Operational Oversight: Direct overall mining operations, encompassing planning, execution, and monitoring of techniques and methods.

  • Ensure efficient resource planning to optimize productivity and meet production targets.

  • Strategic Planning and Resource Allocation: Develop and execute strategic plans for effective resource allocation, aligning with production goals.

  • Optimize equipment operations and maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and enhance efficiency.

  • Technical Expertise and Methodology Enhancement: Stay abreast of industry advancements and emerging mining techniques, integrating innovative methods into operations.

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to refine mining methodologies and enhance operational effectiveness.

  • Safety Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure adherence to safety regulations and protocols, conducting regular inspections to identify and mitigate risks.

  • Promote a culture of safety among team members, fostering awareness and compliance with safety standards.

  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to deploy digital tools that align with business objectives.

  • Ensure the effective utilization of digital platforms to improve team efficiency and productivity.
