Job summary

Bajaj Auto seeks a General Manager, Purchase (RM & Global Sourcing) to lead material planning for steel flats and related RM. The role focuses on supply reliability, strategic supplier management, and cost efficiency, coordinating with RM vendors and internal functions.

The incumbent will drive risk mitigation, negotiate pricing, and guide VA-VE initiatives while ensuring procurement from approved vendors and SOB control.

Qualifications

• Engg. Graduate (Mechanical/ Material Science/ Metallurgy) from Tier1 Institutes only.
• Post-Graduate in Engg. (Mechanical/ Material Science/ Metallurgy) or Management from Tier1 Institutes only.

Responsibilities

• Supply planning based on demand for RM; coordinate with RM suppliers to Tier1 vendors.
• Monitor to avoid supply failures and chronic issues.
• Ensure control of SOB and procurement from approved RM vendors.
• Derisking single/monopolistic sources.
• Streamline supply chain.
• Proactive monitoring of quality from RM suppliers.
• Cross-functional projects to resolve RM quality concerns.
• Negotiations, quarterly price settlements, release of price circular.
• Cost saving initiatives and cross-functional VA-VE projects.
• RM/Forex forecasting to Finance.

• Material Science for the RM commodity being handled
• Fundamental Knowledge of RM conversion process
• Functional knowledge of the product/ application where RM commodity is used
• Cognitive/ Analytically Strong to handle pricing decisions accurately
• Good Knowledge of SAP/ MS Excel/ MS ppt – with 100% error proof working
