Key Responsibilities
- Design gating, raisers minimizing defects such as shrinkage, porosity, and inclusions.
- Supervise pattern design, modification, and approval processes.
- Collaborate with pattern makers to ensure dimensional accuracy and durability.
- Evaluate existing casting processes and implement improvements.
- Introduce advanced technologies and simulation software to enhance efficiency.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with metallurgical and dimensional standards.
- Partner with quality control teams to resolve defects and address customer concerns.
- Provide technical guidance during melting, molding, and pouring operations.
- Align methoding practices with production schedules to meet delivery commitments.
- Train engineers and supervisors in modern methoding techniques.
- Enforce strict adherence to safety and environmental standards.
In essence, the Methods Manager is the technical backbone of the foundry, ensuring every casting is designed and produced with maximum efficiency, quality, and profitability.
Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree (B.E./B.Tech) or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering.
- Experience: Typically 5–15 years of foundry experience for senior roles.
- Proven expertise in methoding, pattern shop management, tooling, and casting simulation.
- Demonstrated success in reducing scrap, improving yield, and defect analysis.
- Proficiency in casting simulation software (e.g., MAGMA, ProCAST, AutoCAST).
- Strong knowledge of gating, risering, and feeding systems for steel castings.
- Familiarity with pattern making, molding processes, and steel metallurgy.
- Ability to lead and mentor teams in methoding and pattern shops.
- Experience in production scheduling, cost control, and quality assurance.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively across design, production, and quality departments.
