Job summary

Vinod Cookware in India seeks an experienced Production Planning and Operations Manager to plan daily to monthly production based on orders, capacity, and delivery schedules. You will supervise sheet-metal forming, cutting, trimming, beading, welding, polishing, assembly, and packaging, while ensuring SOP adherence and cross-department coordination.

The role emphasizes Lean manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and Poka-Yoke initiatives to improve output and reduce waste.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in production or manufacturing operations.
  • Experience in cookware, kitchenware, stainless steel, aluminium, sheet-metal, consumer durables, auto components, or engineering manufacturing will be preferred.

Role & responsibilities
Production Planning and Execution
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production plans based on sales orders, material availability, machine capacity, and delivery schedules.
  • Ensure production targets are achieved in terms of quantity, quality, cost, and delivery timelines.
  • Allocate manpower, machines, tools, dies, and materials effectively across production lines.
  • Monitor work-in-progress and take corrective action against production delays or bottlenecks.
  • Coordinate with planning, stores, purchase, quality, maintenance, and dispatch departments.
Manufacturing Operations
  • Supervise manufacturing processes such as sheet-metal forming, deep drawing, cutting, trimming, beading, brazing, impact bonding, welding, polishing, buffing, assembly, and packaging.
  • Ensure machines are operated according to approved process parameters and standard operating procedures.
  • Identify process losses, excessive rejection, rework, downtime, and productivity gaps.
  • Improve production flow, workstation layout, line balancing, and material movement.
  • Ensure correct usage and maintenance of dies, fixtures, jigs, tools, and production equipment.
Quality Control
  • Ensure that all products meet approved specifications, drawings, quality standards, and customer requirements.
  • Coordinate with the quality team for in-process inspection and final product approval.
  • Investigate defects, rejections, rework, customer complaints, and recurring quality issues.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain process-control records and ensure traceability of production batches.
Machine and Maintenance Coordination
Should have knowledge for PLC & SERVO motors.
  • Monitor machine performance, breakdown frequency, cycle time, and utilization.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance department for preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance.
  • Ensure production equipment is maintained in safe and efficient working condition.
  • Support installation, commissioning, and trial runs of new machines and production lines.
  • Maintain critical spare requirements in coordination with maintenance and stores.
Productivity and Process Improvement
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, line balancing, and waste-reduction initiatives.
  • Improve output per person, machine productivity, production yield, and overall equipment effectiveness.
  • Reduce cycle time, setup time, rejection, rework, energy consumption, and material wastage.
  • Standardize successful processes through work instructions and SOPs.
  • Participate in cost-reduction and value-engineering projects.
Team Management
  • Supervise production supervisors, operators, technicians, helpers, and contract manpower.
  • Assign daily responsibilities and monitor individual and team performance.
  • Train operators on machine operation, quality standards, safety procedures, and process discipline.
  • Maintain workforce discipline, attendance, shift handovers, and workplace coordination.
  • Encourage teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement on the shop floor.
Safety and Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with factory safety rules, machine-guarding requirements, and personal protective equipment standards.
  • Conduct toolbox meetings and safety awareness sessions.
  • Report and investigate accidents, near misses, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping, safe material handling, and compliance with 5S standards.
  • Maintain production documentation required for internal audits, customer audits, and statutory compliance.
Required Qualifications
