What You Will Do
- Support and advise our Trading, Sales, Operations, and Claims teams in trade agreement development and negotiations related to hydrocarbon measurement principles
- Interpret measurement related provisions in commercial contracts, operating agreements, and joint venture arrangements
- Ensure contracts meet ExxonMobil’s corporate standards for Measurement and Testing including the Corporate Measurement Standard (CMS) and the System of Management Control (SMC)
- Ensure implementation of contracts meet contractual, corporate, and industry standards of Measurement
- Support Sales, Operations, and Trading teams as a technical interface for issue identification and resolution with marine terminals and vessels in relation to measurement activities
- Support the performance stewardship of Inspection companies, cargo surveyors, and 3rd party oil loss technical advisors
- Support the Oil Loss Claims team on matters related to cargo volume or quality reconciliation and assist with loss analysis on waterborne movements; assist Claims teams to resolve disputes or reach settlement on hydrocarbon loss claims
- Support global and regional efforts to achieve oil loss targets or tolerances and maintain unknown losses within acceptable range
- Support the initial or on‑going development of industry measurement standards through working group participation
- Support company Audit teams with measurement audits of operating sites or 3rd party facilities
- Provide support to operations teams on issues related to cargo sampling practices by inspection services providers or terminals
- Support troubleshooting investigations of complex laboratory analytical equipment and measurement equipment
- Support Sales and Trading teams with new customer engagement as needed
- Demonstrate capability to influence without direct authority
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Petroleum Technology, or relevant technical disciplines
- Minimum 7–10 years in petroleum measurement, cargo surveying, or lab specialist roles
- Analytically minded with problem solving skills
- Sound understanding of Controls, Corporate Measurement Standards, Data Integrity Assurance Framework, and relevant industry standards from ISO, API, GPA & ASTM
- Ability to influence people within the organization without authority
- Capable of working with teams to achieve business objectives
- Sound knowledge of complex Analytical equipment used in petroleum measurement and testing
- As part of being in a controls-sensitive position, understand key controls in area of responsibility and ensure that these effectively mitigate financial risk
- Excellent communications skills to align uncertainties that arise in the field with limited support
- Agile decision making focused on Fit for Purpose decisions, not strict interpretation of guidelines
