Job summary

PeopleStrong is seeking a Survey Engineer for project sites in Mumbai to carry out surveying activities required for construction execution, including layout marking, level checks, and dimensional control of structural works.

You will work with civil execution teams, tower incharges, and QA/QC to ensure surveys align with drawings and project benchmarks while maintaining records and instrument upkeep.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering is mandatory.
• Certification or training in Surveying / Total Station / AutoCAD / Survey Software preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in construction surveying.
• Experience in high-rise building projects preferred.

Role Overview

The Survey Engineer will be responsible forcarrying out surveying activities required for construction execution, includinglayout marking, level checking, and dimensional control of structural works.

The role ensures thatconstruction activities are executed as per approved drawings, coordinates, and project benchmarks. The candidate will work closely withcivil execution teams, tower incharges, and QA/QC teams to maintain survey accuracy during construction.

Key Responsibilities

Layout & Setting Out

Performlayout and setting out of structural elements such as columns, shear walls, beams, and slabs as per approved drawings.

Markgrid lines, column locations, and reference points using survey instruments.

Ensure accuratepositioning of construction elements at site.

Level Control

Establish and maintainbenchmarks and reference levels for construction activities.

Check and monitorlevels for excavation, footing, slabs, and structural works.

Ensure construction work followsapproved level tolerances.

Survey Execution

Operatesurvey instruments such as Total Station, Auto Level, and Dumpy Level for site measurements.

Assist in establishingsurvey control points and reference coordinates.

Perform regular survey checks to ensurealignment and dimensional accuracy.

Coordination with Execution Teams

Coordinate withtower incharges, engineers, and supervisors for survey requirements.

Provide layout references forformwork, reinforcement, and concrete works.

Support execution teams in resolvingsurvey-related technical issues.

Verification & Accuracy Checks

Conduct regular checks to ensurestructural alignment and dimensional accuracy.

Verify layout markings before commencement offormwork and reinforcement activities.

Coordinate with QA/QC teams forsurvey verification during critical stages of construction.

Ensure properoperation, maintenance, and handling of survey instruments.

Check accuracy and calibration ofTotal Station and leveling instruments.

Maintain survey equipment in proper working condition.

Documentation & Records

Maintain records ofsurvey readings, layout coordinates, and measurement data.

Preparesurvey reports and documentation for project records.

Ensure proper documentation ofcontrol points and reference benchmarks.

Technical Skills Required

Proficiency inTotal Station, Auto Level, and Dumpy Level operations

Strong understanding ofconstruction layout and level control

Ability to read and interpretstructural drawings and survey coordinates

Familiarity withAutoCAD and basic survey software

Proficiency inMS Excel and survey documentation
