Job summary

Alstom in Nagpur is seeking a full-time Material Planner to ensure the seamless flow of materials for production. You will collaborate with Operations, Quality, Warehouse and Planning teams to optimize logistics and balance supply with cost.

The role centers on creating material requisitions, maintaining ERP data, addressing missing parts, and re-evaluating inventory strategies. Fluency in English and a proactive problem-solving mindset are valued in this global rail leader.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering (BE or B.Tech) with 6–7 years of experience or 3–4 years of experience in Alstom at any Services Depot.
  • Experience in material planning in rolling stock or automotive is preferred.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems, particularly SAP MM, and proficiency in MS Office.
  • Familiarity with ASCOT and KINAXIS.
  • Fluency in English, written and spoken.
  • Flexible and proactive problem-solving mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Handle material planning activities at the Services Depot.
  • Place orders, track shortages, and ensure material availability at the depot.
  • Coordinate with vendors and plant cross-functional teams at L2 level for flawless operations.
  • Track supplier delivery performance and manage depot part demand.
  • Optimize delivery performance through ERP system settings and reporting.
  • Identify procurement strategies and address stock discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to improve material planning processes.

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your detail-oriented and analytical expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside proactive, collaborative, and innovative teammates.

You’ll ensure the seamless flow of materials necessary for production, contributing significantly to our operational excellence. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (Operations, Warranty, Quality, Warehouse & Planning), optimize logistics parameters, and much more.

You’ll specifically take care of creating material requisitions, managing ERP system data, and acting on missing parts in production, but also re-evaluating inventory strategies to balance supply chain efficiency and cost management.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Handling material planning activities at the Services Depot
  • Placing orders, tracking shortages, and ensuring material availability at the depot
  • Coordinating with vendors and plant cross-functional teams at L2 level for flawless operations
  • Tracking supplier delivery performance
  • Managing and analyzing demand for depot parts
  • Optimizing delivery performance through ERP system settings
  • Identifying procurement strategies
  • Reporting on delivery and stock accuracy
  • Initiating corrective actions for stock discrepancies and non-conformities in material planning
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to enhance material planning processes
  • Assuming responsibilities of colleagues in their absence and contributing to team efforts
