Role Summary

The Material Coordinator is responsible for the planning, coordination, and control of all material-related activities within a project or facility. This includes material requisition, procurement follow‑up, inspection, storage, and delivery to ensure that the right materials are available at the right time, quantity, and quality. The role acts as a key interface between engineering, procurement, warehouse, and construction teams to maintain efficient material flow and project progress.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate all project material requirements, ensuring timely availability for construction and fabrication activities.
  • Review material take‑offs (MTOs) and requisitions generated by engineering teams.
  • Track purchase orders, delivery schedules, and logistics with procurement and suppliers.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date material status reports and inventory control records.
  • Verify incoming materials against purchase orders, material certificates, and specifications.
  • Ensure proper tagging, identification, and storage of materials in the warehouse or laydown area.
  • Coordinate material issuance to production or site teams as per work schedules.
  • Report shortages, damages, or nonconformances to management and follow up on replacements.
  • Support material reconciliation, surplus identification, and return processes after project completion.
  • Work closely with document control to ensure all material certificates (MTCs) and data sheets are recorded.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and project material handling procedures.
Education & Qualifications
  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Engineering, Logistics, or Business Administration.
  • Minimum 1‑2 years of experience in material coordination, logistics, or inventory management (preferably in engineering or construction projects).
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Maximo, or equivalent).
  • Understanding of engineering materials, equipment, and project documentation.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong understanding of material planning, inventory management, and warehousing principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret material take‑offs (MTOs), BOMs, and engineering drawings.
  • Proficient in ERP or material tracking systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
  • Good knowledge of shipping, logistics, and customs documentation.
  • Familiar with material certification requirements (e.g., MTCs, MSDS, CoC).

  • Construction Phase: Coordinate material receipt, storage, and issuance to site teams per construction schedules.
  • Commissioning / Handover: Reconcile material usage, handle surplus/returns, and prepare material handover documentation.
