Job Description Material Coordinator

Position: Material Coordinator

Qualification: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant discipline

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Material Coordinator to manage material planning, procurement coordination, receipt, storage, issue and reconciliation for power transmission line and substation projects. The candidate will coordinate with site execution, procurement, vendors and contractors to ensure materials are available as per project requirements and schedules.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate material requirements with project planning, site execution and procurement teams.
• Monitor material delivery schedules and follow up with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely availability at site.
• Manage material receipt, inspection, storage, issuance and stock records.
• Maintain material registers, inventory reports, material reconciliation statements and consumption records.
• Track material availability against BOQ, project requirements and execution schedules.
• Coordinate the movement and distribution of materials between warehouses, stores and project sites.
• Monitor shortages, excess stock, damaged materials and pending deliveries, and take corrective action.
• Verify material quantities against purchase orders, delivery challans, invoices and material requisitions.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly material status reports and update project MIS.
• Coordinate with contractors and site engineers for material indents, issue slips and returnable materials.
• Ensure proper storage, preservation, identification and traceability of materials.
• Follow project quality, safety and documentation procedures.

Required Skills

• Experience in material coordination, inventory management or site stores.
• Good knowledge of material planning, stock control and material reconciliation.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and material reporting.
• Experience with ERP/SAP systems will be an advantage.
• Strong coordination, documentation and follow-up skills.
• Ability to manage material availability in line with project schedules.

Preferred Industry Experience

• Power transmission line and substation projects.
• Electrical EPC and infrastructure projects.
• Exposure to 400 kV / 765 kV transmission or substation projects is preferred.
• Familiarity with materials such as tower steel, conductors, insulators, cables, earthing materials and substation equipment.

Key Performance Indicators

• Timely availability of materials at site.
• Accuracy of stock records and material reconciliation.
• Reduction in material shortages and excess inventory.
• Timely submission of material status and MIS reports.
• Compliance with storage, quality and documentation requirements.
