Job summary

Tata Consulting Engineers (TCE) invites an experienced Material Controller for a 400 kV Transmission Line & Substation EPCM project at Rapar, Gujarat. You will oversee receipt, inspection, storage, and tracking of project materials, ensuring accurate records and timely issuance to support site execution.

The role requires 8–12 years in material management within EPC/EPCM environments, with knowledge of electrical and civil materials, ERP systems, and strong coordination with procurement,

Qualifications

• 8 to 12 years of experience in material management, warehouse operations, inventory control, or logistics for EPC/EPCM projects.
• Experience handling materials for EHV Transmission Line and Substation projects.
• Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or other inventory management platforms.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end material control activities for Transmission Line and Substation projects.
• Monitor receipt, inspection, storage, preservation, issuance, and reconciliation of project materials at site.
• Maintain accurate inventory records of electrical, mechanical, civil, and vendor-supplied materials.
• Coordinate with procurement, logistics, vendors, contractors, and project teams to ensure timely availability of project materials.
• Track material delivery schedules and highlight shortages, excesses, damages, or delays.
• Maintain material receipt reports (MRR), goods inward records, stock registers, and inventory databases.
• Verify material quantities against purchase orders, packing lists, and delivery challans.
• Monitor storage conditions and preservation requirements for critical equipment and materials.
• Conduct periodic stock verification, inventory audits, and material reconciliation exercises.
• Generate material status reports, inventory reports, consumption reports, and MIS reports.
• Support contractor billing and quantity verification through material tracking records.
• Coordinate with project management to optimize inventory levels and prevent material wastage.
• Ensure compliance with project procedures, quality requirements, and safety regulations related to storage and material handling.

About the Opportunity

Tata Consulting Engineers (TCE) is seeking an experienced Material Controller for a prestigious 400 kV Transmission Line & Substation EPCM Project located at Rapar, Gujarat. The selected candidate will be responsible for managing the receipt, inspection, storage, inventory control, tracking, and issuance of project materials to ensure seamless project execution and efficient material utilization.

Key Responsibilities

Desired Candidate Profile

• 8 to 12 years of experience in material management, warehouse operations, inventory control, or logistics for EPC/EPCM projects.
• Experience handling materials associated with EHV Transmission Line and Substation projects.
• Sound knowledge of inventory management processes, stock control, and material reconciliation.
• Familiarity with electrical equipment, structural steel, conductors, insulators, transformers, switchyard equipment, cables, and construction materials.
• Strong analytical, coordination, reporting, and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to work closely with project, procurement, and contractor teams in a fast-paced site environment.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in 220 kV, 400 kV, or 765 kV Transmission Line & Substation Projects.
• Prior exposure to EPC/EPCM project environments.
• Experience in managing warehouse operations at project sites.
• Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or other inventory management platforms.
