Job summary

JobItUs is seeking an experienced Manager Production & Fabrication to independently spearhead end-to-end plant operations for the chassis division at Waluj MIDC. The role emphasizes heavy welding and fabrication, line optimization, and strict quality adherence to global automotive standards.

Responsibilities include production planning, equipment utilization, process and quality control, cost management, and collaboration with NPD for new chassis models.

Qualifications

• 15–22 years overall experience with at least 5 years leading a large fabrication/chassis line.
• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical or Production Engineering.
• Experience with automotive quality standards (IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001).

Responsibilities

• Production Planning & Shop Floor Management: plan and deliver daily/weekly/monthly chassis production targets.
• Asset Utilization: oversee heavy welding cells, welding stations, stamping machines, CNC tools, and plasma cutters.
• Line Balancing: optimize cycle times and maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
• Fabrication Quality: manage all sheet metal profiling, bending, jigging, and welding processes.
• Defect Reduction: maintain zero-defect targets, control distortion and NDT audits.
• Compliance Standards: ensure adherence to IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001.
• Lean Execution & Cost Control: lead Kaizen/5S, VSM; manage OPEX and TPM.
• NPD Support: collaborate with NPD for trials and rapid deployment of new chassis models.

Designation: Manager Production & Fabrication

• Industry: Automotive Components Manufacturing (Heavy/Light Commercial Vehicle Chassis & Frames)

• Salary Budget: Up to ₹30 Lakhs Per Annum (Fixed + Performance Incentives, based on experience)

Job Purpose

The AGM/DGM of Production & Fabrication will independently spearhead end-to-end plant operations for the Chassis Manufacturing division. The role focuses on driving heavy welding and fabrication lines, optimizing line efficiency (OEE), minimizing structural defects, ensuring strict adherence to global automotive quality standards (IATF 16949), and managing an extensive workforce of engineers and operators.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production Planning & Shop Floor Management

• Target Achievement: Plan, execute, and deliver daily, weekly, and monthly chassis production targets in alignment with OEM timelines.


• Asset Utilization: Oversee operations of heavy-duty robotic welding cells, manual welding stations, high-capacity hydraulic pressing/stamping machines, CNC laser cutters, and plasma cutting machines.


• Line Balancing: Optimize cycle times, reduce bottle-necks on the assembly line, and maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

1. Process, Welding & Fabrication Quality

• Fabrication Mastery: Direct all structural fabrication processes, including sheet metal profiling, bending, assembly jigging, and structural welding (MIG/TIG/Mag welding).


• Defect Reduction: Maintain a \"Zero Defect\" culture by controlling distortion, spatter, and penetration errors. Oversee Weld Destructive/Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) audits.


• Compliance Standards: Ensure complete adherence to IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 standards.

1. Operational Excellence & Cost Control

• Lean Execution: Lead Kaizen, 5S, Poka-Yoke, and Value Stream Mapping (VSM) initiatives to minimize scrap generation and raw material wastage.


• Budget Management: Control operational expenditure (OPEX), optimize consumables usage (welding gases, wires, fixtures), and cut downtime via efficient Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).


• NPD Support: Partner closely with the New Product Development (NPD) team for trial runs, prototyping, and the rapid deployment of new chassis models into mass production
