Qualifications

• BE/BTech or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
• 10–15 years of planning experience in construction.

• Experience in earned value management (EVM).

Responsibilities

• Create master project schedules using MS Project or Primavera.
• Establish baseline timelines for tracking engineering, procurement, and construction milestones.
• Integrate multiple project schedules into a master portfolio view.
• Define critical path methods to identify bottlenecks.
• Update schedules weekly with site progress inputs.
• Monitor physical and financial progress across sites.
• Conduct variance analysis against baselines.
• Generate progress reports for management.

Job Purpose

The Planning Manager will oversee project scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation from the Chennai Head Office. This role ensures that residential, multi-storey buildings (MSBs), commercial, institutional, and industrial projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning and Scheduling

• Create master project schedules using MS Project or Primavera.
• Establish baseline timelines for tracking engineering, procurement, and construction milestones.
• Integrate multiple project schedules into a master portfolio view.
• Define critical path methods to identify potential project bottlenecks.
• Update schedules weekly based on site progress inputs.

Monitoring and Progress Control

• Monitor physical and financial progress across all active sites.
• Conduct variance analysis to compare actual progress against baselines.
• Generate daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports for management.
• Implement catch-up plans for delayed project packages.
• Verify contractor billing against actual physical progress achieved.

Resource and Budget Management

• Forecast labor, material, and machinery requirements for schedules.
• Develop cash flow statements aligned with construction timelines.
• Optimize resource allocation to prevent idleness or project delays.
• Coordinate with the procurement team for timely material delivery.
• Track project expenditures against budgeted standard costs.

Stakeholder Coordination

• Act as the central planning liaison for project sites.
• Collaborate with architects, structural designers, and site operations.
• Lead progress review meetings with project managers and clients.
• Assist contracts teams in evaluating variations and extension claims.

Required Technical Skills

• Expertise in Primavera P6/MS Project software.
• Strong understanding of MS Office, especially advanced Excel functions.
• Deep knowledge of multi-storey building codes and structural workflows.
• Familiarity with industrial and institutional construction methodologies.
• Competence in earned value management (EVM) tracking concepts.
