Job summary

Larsen & Toubro is seeking a Safety & HSE Engineer in India to lead safety management efforts across projects. You will finalize requirements for HSE studies, contribute to safety reviews, and coordinate with project teams to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.

The role involves planning engineering activities, developing time schedules, and ensuring HSE requirements are fulfilled during engineering, with oversight of Plot Plans and contract scope.

Qualifications

• Experience in safety management within large projects.
• Knowledge of NFPA, API, IEC, IP, BSI and ISO standards.
• Ability to guide multiple project groups on safety issues.
• Familiarity with HSE software tools and their applications.

Responsibilities

• Finalize requirements for HSE studies such as FHA, QRA, Bow-tie, SIL, F&G detectors mapping, HFE, EIA, Noise Study, RAM, and implement recommendations in detailed design.
• Organize and participate in project safety reviews (HAZID, HAZOP, BOWTIE, HFE, ALARP, SIL).
• Perform Fire Protection System Design including hydraulic calculations for fire water network, P&IDs, and equipment datasheets.
• Prepare F&G system design, Passive Fire Proofing (PFP) and Hazardous Area Classification (HAC).
• Supervise and guide preparation and evaluation of Plot Plans.
• Review contract requirements, define Scope of Work and Manpower Plan.
• Ensure compliance with codes, regulations, and client requirements.

• Responsible for management and control of the job executed in the group
• Assignment of Sr. Engineer/ Engineer/ Designer and preparation of organization for the project
• Ensure that all work performed complies fully with all applicable codes, regulations etc., as well as company design standards & client requirements or in other words, design control.
• Review Inquiry Requisitions, Technical Bid Evaluations and ensure procurement according to project specifications and within budgeted cost.
• Ensure that all the Health, Safety and Environment related requirements, as given in Project Contract documents, are fulfilled during the engineering.
• Coordinate with other functional departments for implementing HSE related requirements.
• Resolve all HSE related issues / queries raised during project execution.
• Report to the Management on overall performance of HSE in the projects
