Job summary

PeopleStrong is seeking an experienced HSE Engineer to lead safety studies, coordinate with project teams and ensure compliance with NFPA, API, IEC, IP, BSI and ISO standards across engineering activities in India.

The role involves planning and controlling engineering activities, guiding multiple project groups, and ensuring timely execution of HSE deliverables within budget and contract requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience in FHA, QRA, HAZID/HAZOP, Bow-tie, SIL, F&G Detectors Mapping, HFE, EIA, Noise Study, RAM.

Responsibilities

• Finalize requirements for HSE Studies (FHA, QRA, Bow-tie, SIL, etc.) and review and implement recommendations in detailed design.
• Organize and participate in project safety reviews HAZID, HAZOP, BOWTIE, HFE, ALARP, SIL, etc.
• Perform Fire Protection System Design (hydraulic calculations for fire water network, P&IDs, datasheets).
• Prepare F&G system design, PFP and HAC.
• Supervise and provide guidance in Plot Plans creation and evaluation.
• Review contract requirements, identify Scope of Work and develop Manpower Plan.
• Manage and control the job executed in the group.
• Assign Sr. Engineer/Engineer/Designer and organize project team.
• Ensure compliance with codes, standards and client requirements.
• Review inquiries and procurement per project specifications and budget.
• Ensure Health, Safety and Environment requirements are fulfilled during engineering.
• Coordinate with other functions to implement HSE requirements.
• Resolve HSE queries raised during project execution.
• Report to Management on HSE performance in projects.

Job description

• Good at analytical problem solving, decision making, team leading and interpersonal & communication skill.
• Ability to support and guide multiple Project groups relating to safety management issues.
• Ability to plan & control engineering activities and develop time schedules.
• Ability to work with Project, Customer and Vendor representatives to resolve technical issues.
• Understanding of HSE software tools like Phast, Phast Risk, PHA, Flare sim, Sound plan, Pipe net etc. and their applications.
• Knowledge of international standards, specifications and codes e.g. NFPA, API, IEC, IP, BSI and ISO procedures and standards.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform Fire Protection System Design (including hydraulic calculations for fire water network, preparation of P&IDs, Datasheets of FW Tanks, Pumps, Fire suppression system, etc.)
• Preparation of F&G system design, Passive Fire Proofing (PFP) and Hazardous Area Classification (HAC)
• Supervise and provide guidance in the preparation and evaluation of Plot Plans
• Review contract requirements for project execution, identify Scope of Work and develop Manpower Plan
• Responsible for management and control of the job executed in the group
• Assignment of Sr. Engineer/ Engineer/ Designer and preparation of organization for the project
• Ensure that all work performed complies fully with all applicable codes, regulations etc., as well as company design standards & client requirements or in other words, design control.
• Review Inquiry Requisitions, Technical Bid Evaluations and ensure procurement according to project specifications and within budgeted cost.
• Ensure that all the Health, Safety and Environment related requirements, as given in Project Contract documents, are fulfilled during the engineering.
• Coordinate with other functional departments for implementing HSE related requirements.
• Resolve all HSE related issues / queries raised during project execution.
• Report to the Management on overall performance of HSE in the projects
