Job summary

Iquest Management Consultants is seeking a Lead Piping Engineer to supervise piping design activities in Hyderabad. The role focuses on delivering high-quality engineering deliverables in line with codes and project schedules.

You will coordinate with engineering managers and department leads to optimize manpower usage, monitor progress, and ensure timely release of drawings and documents. Strong emphasis on safety, risk assessment, and vendor interaction is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and own the process of preparing design deliverables with applicable codes and standards.
• Coordinate with department leads to reflect input from other teams.
• Ensure deliverables are produced with high quality and released to the revision status.
• Review piping layouts, nozzles, isometrics, and material take-offs.
• Review vendor drawings, data sheets, and MRs for piping systems.
• Ensure compliance with EHS standards and integrate safety into engineering work.

Role & responsibilities

LEAD PIPING ENGINEER

• Reports to the Engineering Manager.
• Assists the project engineering Manager in Manpower estimation, work planning / forecast and effective utilization of manpower, progress monitoring and adherence to scheduled completion of engineering documents.
• Lead & own the process of preparation of design deliverables with due consideration for applicable Codes & Standards.
• Interface with Leads of other departments to reflect the as-on-date input from other departments, as applicable.
• Take ownership of deliverables produced & their quality.
• Capture all changes / modifications in the deliverables that has been intimated by Project, prior to release of deliverable.
• Ensure appropriate checking & review of all documents / drawings before release at any Revision status.
• Review Plot Plans, Equipment Layouts, Piping Studies, Nozzle Orientation, GADs, and Isometrics. Control of Material Take offs for Bulk items.
• Review of Piping Material Specifications, Valve, data sheets, M. R’s, Technical Bid Evaluations and vendor drawings.
• Review development and material selection.
• Working knowledge/understanding of all engineering design tools to be used.
• 3D model reviews internal/external (with client).
• Attend project review meetings.
• Coordination with clients and vendors.
• Ensures the Quality and compliance with schedule of all Piping engineering activities and deliverables.
• Integrate EHS principles into engineering processes and design to ensure the safety and well-being of personnel and the environment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to incorporate safety measures in the development of engineering solutions.
• Conduct thorough risk assessments for engineering projects, identifying potential hazards and implementing measures to mitigate risks.
• Monitor and enforce compliance with EHS regulations, fostering a culture of safety within the engineering team.
• Provide EHS training to engineering staff, emphasizing safe work practices and environmental stewardship.
• Lead initiatives for continuous improvement in EHS performance, ensuring the integration of best practices into engineering activities.
