Position Description:
The Manager-Global Talent Acquisition Team assists the DGM- Global Talent Acquisition Team of ONESEA SHIP MANAGEMENT PRIVATE LIMITED in ensuring the proper functioning and fulfilment of the objectives of the Global Talent Acquisition Team. This role includes screening and selecting qualified seafarers for all ranks in line with company and client requirements, liaising with DG Shipping/RO for RPSL to ensure vessels operate as per the guidelines, and taking a leadership role in overseeing the crew recruitment process. The Manager also supervises the performance of manning agents, monitors crew performance and career development. Additional responsibilities include developing recruitment and retention strategies, liaising with the training team, handling compensation and benefits benchmarking, and ensuring seafarers are in compliance with all necessary STCW documents/certification.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assists the DGM of ONESEA SHIP MANAGEMENT PRIVATE LIMITED in the proper functioning and fulfilment of the objectives of the Global Talent Acquisition Team.
- Preparation for Annual audit of RPSL in addition to manning office audits.
- Sources candidates through portals, manning agents, referrals, and databases.
- Takes a leadership role to oversee the crew recruitment of the fleet and provides related guidance to vessels/manning agents.
- Oversees the performance of manning agents and sets standards of service by each agent under the guidance of the DGM.
- Schedules interviews, arranges assessments, and coordinates approvals with the DGM.
- Maintains and improves relationships with all stakeholders.
- Develops and executes a comprehensive recruitment and retention strategy after approval by management.
- Handles compensation and benefits strategy, including benchmarking.
- Screens CVs, verifies documents/certificates, and assesses suitability as per vessel/owner matrix.
- Monitors crew operating budget, provides relevant commentary where required, and keeps the DGM advised on developments for necessary action.
- Monitors recruitment expenses, submits monthly variance reporting to the DGM and ensures that all reporting employees adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Maintains recruitment trackers, crew pool and availability list for all ranks.
- Assists the DGM -Global Talent Acquisition of ONESEA SHIP MANAGEMENT PRIVATE LIMITED in developing measures and initiatives based on identified Fleet Personnel KPIs so results become visible in financial reporting.
- Assists in the development of key marine HR initiatives under the guidance of the DGM as required.
- Ensures compliance with RPSL, STCW, flag state requirements, and company policies.
- Supports joining formalities by coordinating with documentation and crew coordination teams.
Management Reporting:
- Communicates expectations to direct reports, manages performance, and provides leadership and support to team members in a constructive, efficient, and effective way.
- Ensures that all reporting employees adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Is familiar with the Health, Safety, Environmental Protection and Quality Policy and understands the responsibilities under the Environmental Management System (EMS). In keeping with this and other compliance policies, understands the duty to report any environmental noncompliance and/or concern to the manager or members of the senior management team (including the highest level of management) either directly or through the open reporting system as per Management System guidelines.
Training Management:
- Ensures all crew have complied with all mandatory in-house training courses.
- Reviews crew SOP manual in line with RPSL guidelines.
- Checks vessel condition and crew performance and identifies training needs for the seafarers onboard managed vessels.
- Attends required pre-joining briefings for joining crew and crew seminars, etc.
- Assists and attends crew interviews (new-hire/post-contract briefing) as directed.
Communications and Reporting:
- Provides guidance and direction to senior personnel in coordinating Master/Chief Engineer visits to the owners/charterers' office and setting up for the success program.
- Works with the DGM to enable successful change management in a constructive and effective manner, improving Fleet Personnel performance.
- Provides support to the DGM in the development of regional seafarer forums and leadership conferences/roadshows as required.
Project Management and System Support:
- Provides Fleet Personnel project management support as required.
- Provides support and user expertise for various system improvement initiatives across platforms such as Crew Management software and Crew Communications platforms.
- Performs other duties as assigned, including working in other functional areas to cover absences.
Requirements:
- Preferable sailing experience as Chief Officer / 2nd Engr.
- In case of non-seafarer – MBA from HR is preferable.
- At least 5 years of experience in the shipping industry.
- At least 3 years of experience working in a multinational environment.
- At least 2 years of experience as a Recruitment Manager.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; good command of English.
- Good negotiating skills are required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) with advanced Excel skills.
- Attention to detail and a proven track record in producing accurate, quality work.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must exercise judgement and maintain consistency.
Additional Desired Qualifications:
- Experience working with container ships engaged in international trading.
- CHRP(Certified Human Resource Personnel) an asset.
- Appropriate years of seagoing experience as Master Mariner.
- Excellent presentation skills.
Job Demands and/or Physical Requirements:
- Regular international travel, may occur on short notice.
- Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be sufficiently mobile to join ad-hoc meetings.
- Must carry a mobile device outside of office hours and check in regularly.
- Must maintain a home internet connection for work outside of office hours.
