Job summary

Carbon Resources seeks a Safety Manager / EHS Manager to champion the ISO 45001 system and keep a safe, compliant workplace at its Vizianagaram site. You will develop policies, lead risk assessments, and drive audits with a focus on preventing injuries.

You will coordinate safety training, incident investigations, emergency planning, and contractor safety, while maintaining records and reporting to management. Bachelor’s degree and relevant certifications are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science or Industrial Safety is required.
• Diploma in Industrial Safety is preferred.
• ISO 45001 Internal Auditor certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain the ISO 45001 OHSMS.
• Create safety policies, SOPs, risk assessments and procedures.
• Conduct internal safety audits and coordinate external audits.
• Identify hazards, perform HIRA, and implement controls.
• Ensure compliance with Factories Act 1948 and other laws.
• Organize safety training such as fire, first aid, and PPE awareness.
• Investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis and implement CAPA.
• Develop emergency plans and coordinate drills.
• Monitor contractor safety and ensure PPE usage and safe practices.
• Prepare safety reports, records and MIS for management.

Job Purpose

To develop, implement, and maintain the Occupational Health & Safety Management System in accordance withISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System, ensuring a safe workplace, regulatory compliance, and prevention of workplace injuries and incidents.

Key Responsibilities

1. Safety Management System

• Implement and maintain the ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management System.
• Develop safety policies, SOPs, risk assessments, and safety procedures.
• Conduct internal safety audits and coordinate external certification audits.

2. Risk Assessment & Hazard Control

• Identify workplace hazards and conduct HIRA (Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment).
• Implement control measures to eliminate or reduce risks.
• Monitor safety performance indicators and recommend improvements.

3. Compliance & Legal Requirements

• Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations such as Factories Act 1948 India and other statutory requirements.
• Maintain records of inspections, permits, licenses, and compliance reports.
• Coordinate with government authorities and safety inspectors.

4. Safety Training & Awareness

• Organize safety training programs such as:
• Fire safety training
• First aid training
• Work permit system training
• PPE awareness
• Conduct safety induction programs for new employees and contractors.

5. Incident Investigation

• Investigate accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Prepare incident investigation reports.

6. Emergency Preparedness

• Develop and implement emergency response plans.
• Organize mock drills for fire, chemical spills, and other emergencies.
• Ensure availability and maintenance of firefighting equipment.

7. Contractor Safety Management

• Monitor contractor safety compliance at site.
• Verify contractor manpower, safety training, and PPE usage.
• Ensure safe work practices for high-risk jobs (hot work, confined space, height work).

8. Safety Inspections & Monitoring

• Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.
• Ensure proper use of PPE by employees.
• Identify unsafe conditions and initiate corrective actions.

9. Reporting & Documentation

• Prepare safety reports, statistics, and MIS for management review.
• Maintain safety registers, audit records, and compliance documentation.
• Participate in management review meetings.
