Job summary

Symbiosis Management Consultants is seeking a cost engineer in Uttar Pradesh, Sector 10, India, to lead product costing initiatives. The role focuses on Zero-Based Costing for casting, forging, sheet metal, and related manufacturing domains, driving cost reduction through VAVE and supplier collaboration.

You will analyze BOMs, machine hour rates, tooling costs, and material indexing, coordinating with Design, Purchase, and Manufacturing to meet technical and commercial goals.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of product costing, ZBC, and should costing.
• Expertise in machining processes and manufacturing technologies.
• Experience with casting, forging, fabrication, and sheet metal components.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, and costing tools.
• Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
• Understanding of VAVE, benchmarking, and cost optimization techniques.

Responsibilities

• Perform Zero-Based Costing (ZBC) for casting, forging, sheet metal, fabrication, alloy steel, and hardware components.
• Conduct should costing and cost estimation for new product development and ECNs.
• Prepare and analyze BOM costing for accurate budgeting.
• Calculate machine hour rates, tooling costs, and manufacturing norms through verification and analysis.
• Drive cost reduction initiatives using VAVE, benchmarking, and supplier resourcing.
• Collaborate with Design, Purchase, and Manufacturing to meet objectives.
• Finalize manufacturing processes and cost norms with suppliers.
• Ensure raw material indexing per quarterly updates and market trends.
• Analyze and optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Conduct supplier visits for process validation and cost negotiation.

• Conduct should costing and cost estimation for new product development and engineering change requests (ECNs).
• Prepare and analyze Bill of Materials (BOM) costing for accurate budgeting.
• Calculate machine hour rates, tooling costs, and manufacturing norms through physical verification and process analysis.
• Drive cost reduction initiatives using VAVE (Value Analysis & Value Engineering), benchmarking, and supplier resourcing.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Design, Purchase, and Manufacturing) to meet technical and commercial objectives.
• Finalize manufacturing processes and cost norms with suppliers.
• Ensure raw material indexing as per quarterly updates and market trends.
• Analyze and optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
