Job summary

Savera India Riding Systems in Pune, India, is seeking a Costing & Manufacturing Costing Specialist to develop end-to-end costing for sheet metal, press work, laser cutting, welding, fabrication and assembly.

You will study drawings, identify processes, calculate material consumption and costs, and provide validated costing data to support pricing and quotations, while tracking changes to drawings or processes.

Qualifications

  • Engineering qualification required (Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering).
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Hands-on understanding of sheet metal, press work, bending, laser cutting, welding, fabrication, machining, surface treatment and assembly.
  • Strong Excel and costing-analysis skills.

Responsibilities

  • Study drawings, specifications, dimensions, tolerances and customer requirements.
  • Develop the complete manufacturing process from raw material to finished product.
  • Identify material grade, thickness, size and specification from drawings; calculate material quantity, weight, consumption and scrap.
  • Identify machines, determine cycle times, setup times and processing requirements; assess manpower and tooling needs.
  • Calculate machine operating cost, labour cost, processing cost and setup cost; include tooling, fixture, surface treatment and subcontracting costs.
  • Prepare complete product/manufacturing cost and support pricing and quotation with validated costing.
  • Identify cost-optimization opportunities and support design-to-cost initiatives.
  • Compare estimated vs actual costs and maintain a costing database.
  • Study new product feasibility and manufacturing review.

Job description

Role & responsibilities
1. Engineering Drawing & Product Study
  • Study engineering drawings, specifications, dimensions, tolerances and customer requirements.
  • Understand product construction and identify all manufacturing requirements from the drawing.
  • Identify special processes, critical dimensions, inspection requirements and manufacturing challenges.
  • Assess Design for Manufacturing (DFM) opportunities and manufacturing feasibility.
2. Manufacturing Process Development
  • Develop the complete manufacturing process from raw material to finished product.
  • Define the sequence of operations such as cutting, forming, pressing, bending, machining, drilling, welding, fabrication, surface treatment, assembly and inspection.
  • Determine internal manufacturing versus subcontracting requirements.
  • Develop practical and cost-effective manufacturing routes.
3. Material Identification & Consumption
  • Identify material grade, thickness, size and specification from engineering drawings.
  • Calculate material quantity, weight, consumption, yield and expected scrap.
  • Evaluate material alternatives and optimize material utilization.
  • Establish accurate material requirements for costing.
4. Machine, Operation & Cycle-Time Assessment
  • Identify machines and equipment required for each manufacturing operation.
  • Determine operation-wise cycle time, setup time and processing requirements.
  • Assess manpower requirements and machine loading.
  • Consider tooling, fixtures, jigs and special equipment requirements.
5. Manufacturing Process Costing
  • Calculate machine operating cost, labour cost, processing cost and setup cost.
  • Include tooling, fixture, welding/fabrication, surface treatment, inspection, packing and subcontracting costs.
  • Develop accurate operation-wise and product-wise manufacturing costs.
  • Maintain clear costing assumptions and calculation logic.
6. Complete Product Costing
  • Prepare complete product/manufacturing cost based on the developed process.
  • Material + Process + Labour + Machine + Tooling/Fixture + Subcontracting + Surface Treatment + Inspection + Packing + Manufacturing Overheads.
  • Support commercial teams with technically validated manufacturing cost as the basis for pricing and quotation.
  • Review and update costing when drawings, materials or processes change.
7. Cost Optimization & Value Engineering
  • Identify opportunities to reduce material consumption, cycle time, labour and processing cost.
  • Evaluate alternate materials, manufacturing methods, machine routes and process sequences.
  • Improve material yield and reduce scrap and rework.
  • Support Value Engineering and Design-to-Cost initiatives.
8. Actual vs Estimated Cost Analysis
  • Compare estimated manufacturing cost against actual production cost.
  • Identify major cost variances in material, cycle time, labour, machine and subcontracting.
  • Work with Manufacturing and Engineering to close recurring costing gaps.
  • Maintain a reliable manufacturing cost database.
9. New Product / Customer Enquiry Costing
  • Study drawing develop process identify material identify machines/operations determine cycle time calculate process cost calculate complete product cost.
  • Support Engineering, Sales and Management with timely and technically robust costing.
  • Participate in new product feasibility and manufacturing review.
Preferred candidate profile
  • Engineering qualification preferred Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Hands-on understanding of sheet metal, press work, bending, laser cutting, welding, fabrication, machining, surface treatment and assembly.
  • Strong knowledge of material consumption, process routing, cycle time, labour, machine and manufacturing cost.
  • Strong Excel and costing-analysis skills.
  • Experience in precision engineering / elevator components is an advantage
  • Candidtae having Costing Degree like CWA or CMA is added advantge
