Job summary

Schneider Electric India Pvt. Ltd.'s Lauritz Knudsen Electrical and Automation unit is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to design low-voltage switchgear assemblies in India. The role emphasizes BOM preparation, CAD design in Creo/AutoCAD, SAP BOM management, and collaboration with sales during bids and FAT.

You will lead complex technical solutions, supervise drawings, drive cost optimization, and mentor a technical team while delivering high-quality engineering outputs on time.

Qualifications

• BE/BTech in Mechanical engineering is required.
• 6–10 years of relevant experience in mechanical design.
• Knowledge of IEC 61439 standard and LV panel design advisable.
• Strong CAD/3D modelling and SAP BOM experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Mechanical BOM for low voltage switchboards per requirements.
• Autonomy to propose and develop complex technical solutions.
• Design custom assemblies when standard designs do not exist.
• Complete orders and projects with expected quality.
• Support sales during bidding and FAT with customers.
• Drawing revision and change control management.
• Drive process improvements and cost optimization.
• Provide technical mentorship to the team.
• Upload and maintain BOMs in SAP.

Key Responsibilities / Deliverables

1. Prepare the Mechanical Bill of Material for the Low voltage switchboard as per the customer/Electrical requirements & R&D guideline.
2. Autonomy to propose and develop complex technical solutions
3. Design custom assemblies based on custom requirements, in case non-existence of standard assemblies.
4. Completing all the orders and projects with expected QUALITY.
5. Partner with sales during the bidding phase to support technical discussions and FAT (Factory Acceptance Tests) with customers
6. Drawing revision, Control of drawings & manages the change Management
7. Involving & driving the various process improvement activities
8. Driving the Value Engineering & Cost optimisation projects to improve the margin
9. Provide technical mentorship for the team to ensure high-quality engineering deliverables
10. Undertake transformation projects to ensure future ready.
11. Uploading and maintaining the BOMs in SAP
12. Take up stretched assignments as and when needed.

Skills

1. Knowledge of IEC 61439 standard & Low voltage Panel Design & manufacturing.
2. 2D CAD in Autocad & 3D modelling in Creo – sheet metal, Assembly, Drawings
3. Sheet metal processing & manufacturing.
4. SAP – ERP management (Material Management module)
5. Excellent in verbal and written communication
6. Project Management
7. Excellent Analytical & Problem-Solving skills
8. Should be able to interact with Electrical Engineers, Customers, Project Managers, and Trainers to seek design solutions
9. Leads and performs basic & detailed technical operational activities
10. Ability to manage planning and scheduling of technicians & engineers according to skills
11. Knowledge and understanding of key market segments and customer application needed and ability to convert them into functional and technical specifications.
12. Able to handle multiple flagship projects individually with expected quality and timeline.
13. Hands on knowledge in basic electrical core principles related to power system engineering
