Job summary

Tata Projects Limited in Mumbai invites an experienced Area Lead to own civil, structural and architectural deliverables for FEED/EPC/proposals. You will manage a team of engineers, designers, and 3D modelers, reviewing documents from internal and external sources to ensure design integrity and adherence to project standards.

The role requires expertise in STAAD Pro, Mat 3D, RCDC, and other design tools, with strong coordination across disciplines and timely delivery within contract requirements.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent; postgraduate qualification preferred.
• Hands-on experience with STAAD family software and 3D modeling tools.
• Knowledge of Indian codes and standards relevant to civil/structural design.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil, structural and architectural deliverables for FEED/EPC/proposals.
• Manage teams of engineers, designers, and 3D modelers.
• Review designs, drawings, and BOQs; liaise with external consultants.
• Coordinate with multi-discipline teams through design, construction and commissioning.
• Prepare/Review RFQ, geotechnical investigations, topographic surveys, and related reports.
• Ensure compliance with project specs, standards, and client policies.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

1. Fully Responsible as Area Lead for deliverables based on Areas assigned in FEED/EPC/Proposal work not

limited to Civil & Structural Deliverables and BOQ including Architectural details and BOQ conforming

to all applicable engineering codes and standards as well as the Clients policies and procedures.

2. Manage team of Working Engineers including UG Engineers, Designers and 3D Modelers.

3. Prepare/Review the Civil & Structural deliverables in line with Project specifications, Project Standard as

per Contract requirements, Standard design requirements, Design Engineering and TPL Standard.

4. Review of Documents and drawings submitted by External Structural design Consultant / fabricators,

Geotech Consultant as per Design basis report / Contract / Project requirements/Company Std as

assigned.

5. Prepare/Review RFQ & report for Geotechnical investigation, Topographic Survey, UG Scanning,

Fabrication Drawings & Hardstand.

1. Based on the preparation by Design Engineer, Review of the Analysis & Design with STAADPro, Mat

3D, STAAD Foundation Advanced, RCDC, Connection Design Softwares such as RAM Connection, Idea

Statica of all structures including buildings (SS,SRR,Control) with Blast resistance, shelters, equipment

(Vessel, Exchangers, Process column, reactor, Drums, tank), Pipe-racks, equipment skids, Dynamic

foundation (Static/Rotating) , Table Top Compressor Foundations using FEM would be added

advantage, Pits for (OWS,CRWS,ABD.CBD,Sanitary) , Connection Deign , FEM, site grading / earth

works including rough and final grading plans, Roads, paving, grading layouts and details, Gate and

fencing layouts and details.

6. Coordination with other disciplines during all stages of design development, construction, precommissioning,

and start-up. Further, addressing all the comments raised by client/consultants and

obtaining all necessary approvals in timely manner.

7. Be willing to prepare Engineering Deliverables including Assumptions, Basis, TQs, MTOs and

BOQs for Projects and Proposals as and when required.

8. Review and analysis the BOQ provided by third party during EPC & Proposal stage by consultant and

Identifying opportunities and supporting in chasing design optimizations.

9. Liaise with Design Engineer, Designers in the preparation of CAD drawings, civil drawings using,

MicroStation, Smart plant 3D, E3D, AutoCAD, PDMS, PDS, Tekla etc.

10. Shall prepare & review the technical documentation for civil subcontracts, Technical comparison table

of third party (Geotechnical, Structural, Topographical, Underground scan, Fabricator, vendors) offers.

11. To monitor execution phase Civil BOQ, compare with proposal phase Civil BOQ, analyze deviations and

prepare a register of the quantity’s variations.

12. Proactive and effective communication among the project team.

13. To ensure that all work is completed without compromise to quality and is delivered according to the

project schedule.

14. To provide relevant knowledgeable practical skills in the response and actions for Site visits and site

surveys, Site queries and discussions, Supplier, vendor, contractor, client and site related discussions and

Site based activities.

15. Familiar with latest code IS (456,800,875,1893,13920,3370), BS5950, BS8110, ASCE-07, ACI-318, AISCASD/

LRFD, AWS, API, UBC 97, IBC Code, PIP standards.

16. Review/Finalization of the foundation design (Pile foundation or Open foundation) using reputed

Software’s such as Mat3D etc. for the project along with the study of Geotechnical parameters submitted

by the soil investigation team.

17. Experience/Knowledge of Modules Analyses for Lifting & Transportation (Land & Sea

Transportation) will be added advantage.

18. Maintaining the Updated 3D Model for the assigned Unit/Area with the support of Designer.

Preferred candidate profile

• 06-10 years’ experience in performing Civil, Structural and Architectural Activities
• Engineering Degree/PG Degree in Civil Discipline
• Experience with STAAD Pro, Mat 3D, RCDC, STAAD Foundation Advanced and Connection Design software.
• Experience in review tools like Navisworks
• Experience in MS office
• Conversant with relevant codes and standards as mentioned above.
• Experience with detailed design project (EPC) execution with flexibility of Self-preparation of Design deliverables and Review of Engineering Deliverables including Architectural details prepared by other Design Engineering Consultants
