Amara Raja Group in Hyderabad is seeking a Manager – Business Development to drive strategic growth in our Oil & Gas portfolio, identifying EPC and industrial utility opportunities and leading bids from initial tracking to commercial closure.
The ideal candidate has 15–20 years in utility or industrial Oil & Gas projects, a Bachelor’s in Mechanical/Chemical/Electrical Eng and MBA preferred, with strong market intelligence and cross-functional leadership.
The Manager – Business Development will drive the strategic growth, market expansion, and project acquisition efforts for our large-scale Oil & Gas portfolio. This role focuses on identifying industrial and utility-scale Oil & Gas opportunities, building high-value client relationships, and leading bids from initial tracking through to commercial closure.
Market Intelligence & Strategy: Track, analyze, and forecast market trends, regulatory frameworks, and competitive landscapes within the heavy industry and Oil & Gas sectors to identify prospective projects.
Pipeline Generation: Identify, qualify, and secure new business opportunities, including large-scale engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects, captive power plants, and industrial utility modernizations.
Key Account Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with C-suite executives, government bodies, public sector undertakings (PSUs), and private industrial giants.
Bid & Proposal Leadership: Lead cross-functional teams (Engineering, Estimating, Finance, Legal) to prepare highly competitive techno-commercial bids, RFPs, and RFQs.
Commercial Negotiation: Drive contract negotiations, risk assessment reviews, and pricing strategies to secure profitable project margins while mitigating corporate liability.
Partner Ecosystem Development: Identify and form strategic alliances, consortiums, or joint ventures with technology partners and sub-contractors to enhance bid competitiveness.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering.
An MBA in Marketing, International Business, or Finance is highly preferred.
Experience: 15 to 20 years of core business development, sales, or bid management experience specifically in utility or industrial Oil & Gas projects.
Industry Network: Established relationships with major industrial clients (e.g., steel, cement, chemicals, refineries), consultants, and regulatory authorities.
Technical Literacy: Strong understanding of Oil & Gas plant cycles, thermodynamics, fuel economics, and a developing knowledge of decarbonization/transition technologies (e.g., biomass co-firing, carbon capture).
Commercial Acumen: Deep familiarity with project financing, financial modeling (IRR, NPV), and standard heavy-engineering contracting terms (e.g., FIDIC contracts).
