Job summary

Electrosteel Castings (ECL) in India is seeking an experienced Production Manager to oversee the daily manufacturing of rubber components such as gaskets, seals, and O-rings for railway applications. You will manage planning, scheduling, and process control to achieve quality targets and on-time delivery.

The role requires expertise in rubber processing, moulding, and vulcanization, with focus on maintaining 5S, safety and continuous improvement initiatives like Kaizen and Lean manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Experience in rubber components manufacturing.
• Knowledge of rubber moulding and vulcanization processes.
• Experience in production planning and shift management.
• Railway rubber products experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and control daily production to meet targets and schedules.
• Manufacture rubber gaskets, seals, O-rings, and profiles.
• Oversee rubber mixing, moulding, curing and related processes.
• Monitor process specs and work instructions for compliance.
• Handle manpower planning, shifts, and production scheduling.
• Identify bottlenecks and drive productivity and OEE improvements.
• Coordinate with Quality, Maintenance, Stores, Purchase and PPC.
• Minimize rework, wastage, and ensure proper documentation.
• Initiate corrective and preventive actions.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

• Plan, organize and control daily production activities to achieve production targets, quality standards and delivery schedules.
• Manage manufacturing of rubber gaskets, seals, O-rings, profiles and other moulded/extruded rubber components.
• Should have good knowledge of rubber mixing, compounding, moulding, compression moulding, transfer moulding and vulcanization processes.
• Experience in handling rubber moulds, presses, curing processes and production machinery.
• Monitor production parameters and ensure compliance with approved process specifications and work instructions.
• Handle manpower planning, shift management and production scheduling.
• Identify production bottlenecks and implement measures to improve productivity, OEE and machine utilization.
• Coordinate with Quality, Maintenance, Stores, Purchase and PPC departments for smooth production.
• Ensure minimum rejection, rework and material wastage through effective process control.
• Analyze production and rejection data and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Ensure proper documentation of production records, process parameters, downtime, rejection and productivity.
• Ensure adherence to 5S, safety, quality systems and shop-floor discipline.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives such as Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing and productivity improvement.
• Support development and trials of new rubber compounds, moulds, gaskets and railway rubber components.
• Ensure timely completion of production as per customer requirements and dispatch schedules.

Preferred candidate profile

Preferred Experience Railway Rubber Products

Candidates with experience in manufacturing rubber components supplied to Indian Railways / railway coach manufacturers / railway OEMs will be preferred.
