Job description

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and hands‑on Factory / Plant Manager to oversee the complete operations of our rubber manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in rubber manufacturing, production management, manpower management, machinery operations, quality control, and plant administration.

Experience in manufacturing railway-related rubber components, railway seals, gaskets, pads, profiles, bushes, or other railway-approved rubber products will be highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities
Production & Planning
  • Plan, schedule, and monitor daily, weekly, and monthly production based on customer orders and delivery requirements.
  • Ensure production targets are achieved while maintaining required quality, productivity, and delivery schedules.
  • Plan raw material requirements in coordination with the purchase and stores departments.
  • Monitor production processes from raw material preparation/mixing through molding, curing, finishing, inspection, and packing.
  • Identify production bottlenecks and implement measures to improve productivity and reduce downtime.
  • Optimize production processes, manpower, material consumption, and machine utilization.
Manpower Management
  • Manage and supervise factory workers, operators, technicians, supervisors, and other production staff.
  • Allocate manpower according to production requirements and machine capacity.
  • Prepare and monitor worker shifts, attendance, overtime, and work allocation.
  • Train workers on production procedures, quality requirements, machine operation, and workplace safety.
  • Maintain discipline and ensure adherence to factory rules and operating procedures.
  • Build an efficient and accountable production team.
Machinery & Maintenance
  • Oversee the operation and utilization of rubber processing and manufacturing machinery, including mixing, molding, vulcanizing, cutting, finishing, and related equipment.
  • Ensure machines are properly operated, maintained, and used efficiently.
  • Coordinate with maintenance personnel for preventive maintenance, breakdown maintenance, and machine servicing.
  • Monitor machine breakdowns and downtime and take corrective measures to minimize production interruptions.
  • Ensure proper machine settings and operating parameters are maintained for consistent product quality.
  • Assist in evaluating machinery requirements, upgrades, and new equipment.
Quality Control
  • Take overall responsibility for maintaining quality standards of manufactured rubber products.
  • Ensure production is carried out according to approved drawings, specifications, process parameters, and quality requirements.
  • Coordinate with the Quality Control/Inspection team for raw material inspection, in-process inspection, and final product inspection.
  • Monitor defects, rejection rates, rework, and customer complaints and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure proper documentation of production and quality records.
  • Work closely with the quality team to identify the root causes of manufacturing defects and implement preventive measures.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable customer, industry, railway, and product-specific quality standards.
Rubber Manufacturing Operations
  • Supervise and monitor rubber manufacturing processes, including:
    • Raw material preparation and weighing
    • Rubber mixing and compounding
    • Molding and vulcanization
    • Extrusion, where applicable
    • Cutting and trimming
    • Finishing and assembly
    • Product inspection and testing
    • Packing and dispatch
  • Monitor critical production parameters such as temperature, pressure, curing time, mixing time, compound specifications, and machine settings.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of rubber compounds, chemicals, additives, and other production materials.
Factory Administration & Safety
  • Ensure smooth day‑to‑day functioning of the entire plant.
  • Maintain proper coordination between production, quality, stores, purchase, maintenance, and dispatch departments.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health, safety, housekeeping, and environmental requirements.
  • Maintain proper production registers, machine records, manpower records, rejection reports, and other factory documentation.
  • Monitor production costs and identify opportunities for reducing wastage, rejection, downtime, and operating costs.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping and implementation of 5S/lean manufacturing practices, where applicable.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Diploma/Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Production, Rubber Technology, Polymer Technology, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5 to 10+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing, with significant hands‑on experience in rubber manufacturing/processing.
  • Proven experience managing a rubber manufacturing factory or production plant.
  • Strong understanding of rubber processing, compounding, molding, vulcanization, finishing, and quality‑control processes.
  • Experience in managing factory workers, production supervisors, machine operators, and maintenance teams.
  • Strong production planning and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Good knowledge of industrial machinery and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings, specifications, process sheets, and quality requirements.
  • Good knowledge of MS Excel, production reports, inventory records, and basic ERP/MIS systems.
  • Strong leadership, communication, coordination, and decision‑making skills.
Preferred Experience

Candidates with experience in railway-related rubber components and products will be strongly preferred.

Experience with products such as railway rubber pads, seals, gaskets, bushes, profiles, diaphragms, suspension components, vibration‑isolation products, or other railway rubber components will be an added advantage.

Experience working with Indian Railways, RDSO, RITES, railway OEMs, or other railway-related customers will also be preferred.
