Job summary

Psm Fasteners in Tamil Nadu seeks a Diploma/degree holder to lead maintenance on cold heading/cold forging machines, CNC machines and other fastener production equipment. You will plan preventive maintenance, troubleshoot across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems, and ensure safety standards.

Qualifications

• Hands-on maintenance experience in a fastener, cold forging, machining or similar high-volume metal-manufacturing environment.
• Practical maintenance and troubleshooting experience with CNC turning/machining equipment and basic CNC/control diagnostics.
• Experience with thread rolling machines and related equipment is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance for cold heading/cold forging machines, CNC machines and other production equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication and control-system faults and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor downtime, MTTR/MTBF and drive improvements to increase equipment availability.
• Coordinate with Production, Quality and external service providers to minimise downtime and restore equipment to production condition.
• Maintain spare parts and establish stock levels for critical components.
• Support installation, commissioning and ramp-up of new equipment in the plant.
• Ensure maintenance activities comply with safety, lockout/tagout and EHS requirements.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

• Plan and execute preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance for cold heading/cold forging machines, CNC machines, thread rolling machines and other fastener production equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication and basic control-system faults, identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions to minimise repeat failures.
• Perform machine inspection, alignment, adjustment and condition monitoring of key assemblies such as feeders, transfer mechanisms, dies/tooling interfaces, spindles, bearings, motors, pumps and gearboxes.
• Support maintenance and troubleshooting of CNC controllers, servo systems, sensors, limit switches and machine electrical panels; coordinate specialist support for PLC/CNC control issues when required.
• Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules, machine history records, maintenance checklists and equipment condition reports based on machine criticality and OEM recommendations.
• Coordinate with Production, Quality, Tooling and external service providers to minimise downtime and safely restore equipment to production condition.
• Maintain critical spare parts, maintenance tools and consumables, and establish minimum/maximum stock levels for critical machine components.
• Support installation, commissioning, relocation, machine acceptance and ramp-up of new cold forging, CNC and auxiliary equipment in the fastener manufacturing plant.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with machine safety, lockout/tagout and EHS requirements.
• Monitor downtime, MTTR, MTBF, preventive maintenance completion and repeat breakdowns, and drive improvement actions to increase equipment availability and reliability.

Preferred candidate profile

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 3-5 years of hands‑on maintenance experience in a fastener, cold forging, machining or similar high-volume metal‑manufacturing environment preferred.
• Hands‑on maintenance experience with cold heading/cold forging machines is strongly preferred, including feeders, transfer mechanisms, forming stations, lubrication systems and related mechanical assemblies.
• Practical maintenance and troubleshooting experience with CNC turning/machining equipment, including servo drives, spindles, sensors, electrical panels and basic CNC/control diagnostics.
• Experience with thread rolling machines and other secondary fastener-processing equipment is an advantage.
• Strong troubleshooting knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems; ability to perform systematic root‑cause analysis of equipment failures.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical diagrams, hydraulic/pneumatic circuits, technical manuals and equipment documentation.
• Experience in preventive/predictive maintenance, machine installation and commissioning, spare‑parts management and maintenance KPI tracking (MTTR/MTBF).
