Job summary

Torq Commodities is seeking a Logistics Manager for commodity trading to oversee end-to-end logistics operations in Navi Mumbai. The role focuses on planning shipments, coordinating carriers, and ensuring timely delivery from suppliers to buyers.

You will manage transportation, warehousing, and contract execution to optimize costs and compliance. The position requires strong coordination with traders, warehouses, banks, and service providers, plus experience in ERP/trade systems and performance

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate domestic and international shipments.
• Ensure timely movement of commodities from suppliers to buyers.
• Monitor shipment schedules and proactively address delays.
• Coordinate vessel, container, rail, road, and warehouse operations.
• Negotiate freight rates with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and transport providers.
• Optimize transportation costs while maintaining service quality.
• Arrange bookings for vessels, containers, and inland transportation.
• Track freight costs and prepare logistics cost reports.
• Liaise with traders, suppliers, buyers, warehouses, shipping lines, inspection agencies, banks for trade documentation.
• Monitor warehouse inventory levels and coordinate storage, handling, and dispatch.
• Ensure proper stock reconciliation and minimize storage costs and losses.
• Execute logistics activities as per trade contracts and ensure shipment terms (FOB, CIF, CFR, FCA, DAP, EXW).
• Coordinate loading and discharge schedules.
• Identify logistics risks (delays, port congestion, demurrage, detention, cargo damage, documentation discrepancies) and develop mitigation plans.
• Coordinate insurance claims when required.
• Monitor logistics budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Track logistics KPIs and prepare management reports and dashboards.
• Develop and maintain relationships with shipping lines, freight forwarders, customs brokers, transporters, warehousing partners.
• Maintain logistics records in ERP and trade management systems and support process automation initiatives.
• Streamline logistics processes and improve visibility across the supply chain.

1. Shipment Planning & Execution

• Execute logistics activities as per trade contracts.
• Ensure shipment terms comply with:
• FOB
• CIF
• CFR
• FCA
• DAP
• EXW
• Coordinate loading and discharge schedules.

7. Risk Management

• Identify logistics risks including:
• Shipment delays
• Port congestion
• Demurrage
• Detention
• Cargo damage
• Documentation discrepancies
• Develop mitigation plans.
• Coordinate insurance claims when required.

8. Cost Control

• Monitor logistics budgets.
• Analyze freight and handling costs.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Minimize demurrage, detention, and storage charges.

9. Performance Monitoring

• Track logistics KPIs such as:
• On-time shipment percentage
• Freight cost per metric ton
• Demurrage costs
• Documentation accuracy
• Transit time
• Delivery performance
• Prepare management reports and dashboards.

10. Vendor & Service Provider Management

• Develop and maintain relationships with:
• Shipping lines
• Freight forwarders
• Customs brokers
• Transporters
• Warehousing partners
• Evaluate vendor performance and negotiate contracts.

11. Digital Systems & Reporting

• Maintain logistics records in ERP and trade management systems.
• Update shipment tracking dashboards.
• Generate logistics and operational reports.
• Support process automation initiatives.
