JOB DESCRIPTION: LOGISTICS MANAGER

1. Role Overview

• Job Title: Logistics Manager
• Department: Supply Chain & Planning
• Reporting To: Head of Planning & Supply Chain
• Direct Reports: 2 to 3 Team Members
• Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

2. Role Purpose

• Provide operational structure, governance, and management to the logistics and warehousing functions.
• Maintain strict financial control over primary and secondary freight, distribution, and warehousing costs.
• Elevate customer service levels, ensure inventory accuracy, and manage 3PL logistics networks across multiple locations.

3. Key Responsibilities & Scope

A. Fleet & Logistics Management (~300+ Vehicles/Month)

• Manage overall primary and secondary shipping functions across 3PL fleets.
• Oversee transportation rates and negotiate contracts for primary and secondary movements.
• Conduct lane-wise studies to optimize routes and maintain logistics costs within budget.
• Ensure all transporter agreements comply with corporate legal and safety requirements.

B. Multi-Site Operations (10+ Warehouses & 2 Manufacturing Plants)

• Oversee warehousing and distribution network across 10+ external warehouses and co-packers.
• Manage in-plant warehouse operations across manufacturing facilities, ensuring smooth unloading of Raw Materials (RM) and dispatch of Finished Goods (FG).
• Ensure prompt Goods Receipt Note (GRN) processing for all inbound shipments.
• Train and manage Warehouse Service Providers (WSPs) and labor contractors on company policies and operational standards.

C. Cost Control, Performance Metrics & MIS

• Implement freight cost levers to deliver cost efficiencies across supply chain operations.
• Collaborate with plant warehouse, customer service, and external warehouse teams to maintain high On-Time In-Full (OTIF) delivery levels.
• Prepare and report daily, weekly, and monthly MIS performance indices, including OTIF, logistics cost per MT, and stock accuracy.
• Maintain separate tracking and reporting for Raw Material (RM) and Finished Goods (FG) transportation costs.

D. Systems & Process Compliance

• Provide ERP (SAP) guidance, system support, and operational alignment for field logistics teams.
• Drive inventory reconciliation and maintain 100% stock accuracy across external and internal warehouses.

4. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• On-Time In-Full (OTIF): High-level order fulfillment across all distribution channels.
• Logistics Cost Optimization: Adherence to defined primary and secondary freight budget targets.
• Stock Accuracy: High accuracy standards across in-plant and 3PL warehouses.
• Fleet Availability: On-time vehicle placement for ~300+ vehicles per month.

5. Candidate Profile & Requirements

A. Experience & Domain Expertise

• 10 to 15 years of relevant experience in logistics, transportation, and warehousing.
• Industry exposure in B2B FMCG, Food & Beverage, or related manufacturing sectors.
• Demonstrated experience managing 3PL fleets handling 300+ vehicles per month.
• Hands-on experience managing multi-depot networks (10+ warehouses) and multiple plant locations.

B. Technical Skills & Tools

• Strong proficiency in ERP systems (specifically SAP for logistics and warehouse management).
• Proven skills in freight negotiation, vendor SLA management, and transporter rate finalization.
• Ability to run data-driven logistics MIS, transport cost analysis, and stock reconciliation.

C. Team & Location Requirements

• Proven team management skills (managing direct reports and 3PL operational teams).
• Must be based in or around Mumbai.
