Job summary

Vrinda Global is seeking a Sr. Manager Freight & Logistics in Mumbai with 10–15 years in logistics and freight management, preferably in petrochemical or related industries. You will lead inbound/outbound transportation, fleet operations, and compliance.

Responsibilities include cost optimization, vendor relationships, dispatch planning, inventory coordination, and MIS reporting to ensure on-time delivery, safety, and regulatory adherence.

Qualifications

  • 10–15 years of logistics and freight management experience in Petrochemical, Lubricants, Chemical, Oil & Gas or Liquid Bulk industries.
  • MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain Management or Logistics is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage inbound and outbound transportation of raw materials and finished goods.
  • Ensure timely vehicle availability to meet production and dispatch schedules.
  • Coordinate with transporters, fleet operators and logistics partners for uninterrupted operations.
  • Optimize freight costs through route planning, vendor negotiations and contracts.
  • Monitor freight performance, detention charges and turnaround time (TAT).
  • Ensure on-time deliveries with zero product damage and minimum logistics cost.
  • Supervise tanker fleet operations and ensure fleet utilization and maintenance records.
  • Monitor compliance with GST, Road Transport regulations, National Permits, Insurance and safety norms.
  • Prepare and review MIS reports including dispatch, vehicle utilization, freight cost analysis and KPI dashboards.

Key Responsibilities
Freight & Transportation Management
  • Plan and execute inbound and outbound transportation of raw materials and finished goods.
  • Ensure timely vehicle availability to meet production and dispatch schedules.
  • Coordinate with transporters, fleet operators and logistics partners for uninterrupted operations.
  • Optimize freight costs through route planning, vendor negotiations and transportation contracts.
  • Monitor freight performance, detention charges and turnaround time (TAT).
  • Ensure on-time deliveries with zero product damage and minimum logistics cost.
Fleet Operations Management
  • Manage company-owned and hired tanker fleet.
  • Monitor vehicle utilization and availability.
  • Maintain records of:
    • Vehicle maintenance
    • Tyre consumption
    • Fuel efficiency
    • Repair history
    • Route expenses
Liquid Bulk Logistics
  • Supervise loading and unloading of liquid bulk products.
  • Ensure tankers meet cleanliness and safety standards before loading.
  • Monitor weighing operations including Gross, Tare and Net Weight.
  • Prevent leakage, contamination and spillage during transportation.
  • Ensure product integrity throughout the supply chain.
Dispatch & Distribution
  • Execute daily dispatch plans based on sales schedules.
  • Coordinate with Production, Sales, Quality and Security teams for smooth dispatch operations.
  • Track shipment movement until successful customer delivery.
  • Monitor unloading activities and detention at customer locations.
  • Ensure compliance with dispatch documentation and statutory requirements.
Raw Material Logistics
  • Coordinate receipt of raw materials from suppliers.
  • Supervise weighbridge operations and quantity verification.
  • Coordinate with surveyors for material inspection and reconciliation.
  • Ensure proper documentation during inbound logistics.
  • Maintain inventory movement records.
Vendor & Transporter Management
  • Develop and maintain relationships with transport vendors.
  • Evaluate transporter performance on:
    • Cost
    • Delivery
    • Safety
    • Vehicle availability
  • Finalize freight contracts and rate agreements.
  • Ensure timely transporter payments and dispute resolution.
Compliance & Documentation
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • GST regulations
    • Road Transport regulations
    • National Permit requirements
    • Insurance
    • Pollution Control norms
    • Customs & Port regulations
    • Export & Import documentation
  • Monitor renewal of:
    • Vehicle Registration
    • Fitness Certificates
    • Insurance
    • Road Tax
    • PUC
    • National Permits
Inventory & Warehouse Coordination
  • Coordinate storage of raw materials and finished goods.
  • Ensure proper inventory movement between warehouse and production.
  • Maintain stock accuracy and logistics documentation.
  • Support warehouse operations for efficient material handling.
Safety & Quality
  • Ensure compliance with EHS standards during transportation.
  • Monitor tanker hygiene, safety and loading practices.
  • Prevent pilferage, theft and product contamination.
  • Ensure zero leakage and zero product loss during transportation.
MIS & Reporting
