Job Overview
V2 Retail Limited is seeking an experienced and results-driven Logistics Manager to lead end-to-end logistics operations at its Distribution Centre. The role holder will be responsible for inbound and outbound logistics, transportation planning, fleet and vendor management, dispatch scheduling to stores, and ensuring on-time, cost-efficient, and compliant movement of goods across South India. This is a critical role supporting V2 Retail's growing store network and requires strong coordination with warehouse operations, store operations, procurement, and finance teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, execute, and monitor end-to-end logistics operations at the DC, including inbound receipt of goods, outbound dispatch, and store-wise distribution across the region.
- Design and manage optimal transportation routes and delivery schedules to ensure timely, cost-effective replenishment to stores.
- Negotiate and manage relationships with transporters, courier partners, and 3PL vendors; monitor freight costs and drive cost optimization initiatives.
- Oversee fleet management including vehicle allocation, utilization tracking, maintenance schedules, and driver duty rosters.
- Ensure accurate and timely dispatch planning in coordination with the warehouse/inventory team, minimizing transit damage, shortages, and delivery delays.
- Monitor key logistics KPIs on-time delivery (OTIF), freight cost per unit/shipment, vehicle utilization, transit lead time, and damage/loss ratios and drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure full compliance with e-way bill, GST documentation, and other statutory/regulatory requirements for goods movement.
- Coordinate with store operations and regional teams to plan dispatch priorities during peak season, promotions, and new store launches.
- Manage logistics budget, track transportation and handling costs against plan, and report variances with corrective action plans.
- Implement and maintain safety, security, and SOP adherence for loading, unloading, and in-transit operations.
- Drive process automation and system-based tracking (SAP WMS) for real-time shipment visibility and reporting.
- Lead, train, and manage the logistics team at the DC, including dispatch coordinators, loaders, and transport staff.
- Prepare and present daily, weekly, and monthly logistics MIS reports to senior management.
- Support internal and external audits related to logistics operations, documentation, and compliance.
Key Skills & Requirements
- 610 years of hands-on experience in logistics/distribution management, preferably within retail, fashion, or FMCG supply chain operations.
- Strong understanding of transportation management, freight negotiation, route optimization, and fleet operations.
- Working knowledge of GST, e-way bills, and statutory compliance related to goods transportation.
- Proficiency in SAP WMS systems and MS Excel for logistics tracking, costing, and MIS reporting.
- Proven experience managing multi-store distribution networks and last-mile delivery planning.
- Strong vendor management, negotiation, and cost-control skills.
- Excellent coordination, problem-solving, and stakeholder management abilities across cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage logistics operations during high-volume/peak periods.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing on-ground logistics and transport teams.
- Graduate / Postgraduate in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations, or related field (MBA preferred)
