Job summary

OPT IT in Bengaluru, India is seeking a Linux L1+ Engineer to provide first-level infrastructure support, monitor Linux systems, troubleshoot user and server issues, and escalate complex incidents to higher-level teams. You will monitor server health, perform backups, run basic Shell scripts, and maintain documentation while coordinating with L2/L3 teams.

The role requires a technical IT/CS degree or diploma; RHCSA is an advantage, with familiarity in TCP/IP, DNS, SSH, and monitoring tools.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Manage user accounts, permissions, SSH access, and basic configurations
• Support patching, software installation, backups, and routine maintenance
• Perform basic Shell scripting and system-log analysis
• Create and update tickets, follow SOPs, and maintain documentation
• Coordinate with L2/L3, network, application, and infrastructure teams

Required Skills

• Working knowledge of RHEL, CentOS/Rocky Linux, or Ubuntu
• Basic understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, SSH, storage, filesystems, and troubleshooting
• Familiarity with monitoring, backup, patching, and ITSM/ticketing tools
• Good communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills

Educational Qualifications

Any technical degree or diploma in IT or Computer Science; RHCSA certification is an advantage.

Preferred

• Experience with Bash scripting, Ansible, VMware, cloud platforms, or EDA environments
