Job summary

Star Union Dai-ichi Life Insurance (SUD Life) seeks an experienced Test Lead to drive testing across projects in the insurance domain. You will lead manual and automated testing, coordinate with business, development and QA teams, and ensure high‑quality releases.

Based in Navi Mumbai (on-site), the role requires 5–8+ years IT experience with strong leadership, test planning, and defect management skills. ISTQB is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT or related field.
• 5-8+ years IT experience with software testing leadership.
• Strong expertise in manual and automated testing.
• Experience leading testing teams in Agile/Waterfall.
• Knowledge of test management/defect tracking tools (e.g., Jira).
• ISTQB or equivalent certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end testing across multiple projects and releases.
• Define and implement test strategies, plans, and execution approaches.
• Manage test teams and provide technical guidance.
• Coordinate with business stakeholders, developers, BAs, and PMs to ensure quality.
• Review and validate requirements, specs, and test scenarios.
• Oversee test design, execution, defects, and reporting.
• Identify testing risks and develop mitigations.
• Drive test automation initiatives and promote quality practices.
• Ensure adherence to testing standards and processes.
• Track and communicate testing progress and quality to stakeholders.

About the Role

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Test Lead - Testing SME to lead testing activities across projects, ensure product quality, and drivetesting best practices. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise inmanual and automated testing, test management, stakeholder coordination, andquality assurance processes. Experience in the Insurance domain ishighly preferred.

Experience

5-8+ years of IT experience, with significant experience in software testing and test leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end testing activities across multiple projects and releases.
• Define and implement test strategies, test plans, and test execution approaches.
• Manage test teams and provide technical guidance and mentorship.
• Coordinate with business stakeholders, developers, BA, and project managers to ensure quality deliverables.
• Review and validate business requirements, functional specifications, and test scenarios.
• Oversee test case design, execution, defect management, and reporting.
• Identify testing risks and develop mitigation plans.
• Drive test automation initiatives and promote best practices in quality engineering.
• Ensure adherence to organizational testing standards and quality processes.
• Track, monitor, and communicate testing progress, metrics, and quality status to stakeholders.
• Participate in release planning, UAT support activities.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5-8+ years of overall IT experience.
• Strong experience in:
  • Functional Testing
  • System Integration Testing (SIT)
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
  • Regression Testing
  • Defect Management
  • Test Planning and Test Execution
  • Test Metrics and Reporting
• Experience leading testing teams in Agile and/or Waterfall environments.
• Knowledge of test management and defect tracking tools such as Jira or similar.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to engage with business and technical stakeholders effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the Insurance domain (Life, Health, General, or Property & Casualty Insurance) is highly preferred.
• Experience with test automation tools and frameworks.
• Knowledge of API testing and integration testing.
• Exposure to performance and non-functional testing.
• ISTQB or equivalent testing certification is an added advantage.
