Job summary

American Express Global Business Travel in Bengaluru, India is seeking a Senior Lead Software Engineer to guide a team building core mid and back-office systems for billing, invoicing, and reconciliation on a global scale.

You will design, code, and scale backend services in Java/Spring Boot, build React interfaces, and deploy cloud-native apps on AWS and Kubernetes while promoting engineering standards and mentoring engineers.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with leadership.
• Proficient in Java and Spring Boot for scalable backend services.
• Experience building modern front-end apps with React.
• PostgreSQL experience including schema design and optimization.
• Hands-on with AWS and Kubernetes deployment and operations.
• Exposure to AI/ML concepts in production settings.
• Strong knowledge of microservices, RESTful APIs, and design patterns.
• Curious, problem-solver with collaborative mindset.
• Fluent in English and able to work in a multicultural team.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineers, setting technical direction and reviewing code and design

What We’re Looking For

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including experience leading or mentoring a team of engineers
• Strong hands‑on expertise in Java and Spring Boot for building scalable, enterprise‑grade backend services
• Experience building modern front‑end applications using React JS
• Solid experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design and query optimization for transactional systems
• Hands‑on experience deploying and handling applications on AWS and Kubernetes
• Practical exposure to AI/ML concepts and experience applying AI capabilities within production applications
• Strong experience in microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, data structures, and design patterns
• Curiosity and passion for problem solving
• Fluent in English
