Job summary

Larsen & Toubro in India is seeking a procurement and supplier development specialist to read drawings, assess suppliers, and drive cost reductions. You will lead supplier qualification, RFQs and ensure quality standards while aligning with engineering and production teams.

The role requires strong negotiation, planning, and data analysis skills to ensure on-time delivery and optimal inventory levels across multiple projects.

Qualifications

• Reading engineering drawings, tolerances, BOMs and specifications (GD&T).
• Understanding of cable harness, injection molding, sheet metal and plastics.
• Experience in supplier development and qualification activities.
• Costing, RFQ evaluation, price negotiation and tooling/NRE knowledge.
• Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plan, 8D, RCA, CAPA and supplier audits.
• Planning & inventory management using MRP, lead-time, safety stock and shortage management.
• SAP/ERP skills for PR, RFQ, PO, GRN, MRP, BOM and vendor management.
• Data analysis and KPI management including OTD, PPM and inventory KPIs.
• Strong negotiation, stakeholder management and cross-functional project management.

Job description

• Mechanical Drawing & GD&T – Ability to read engineering drawings, tolerances, BOMs and specifications.
• Commodity Knowledge – Good understanding of cable harness, injection molding, sheet metal, metal shields, machining, plastics and mechanical hardware.
• Supplier Development – Supplier identification, qualification, capability assessment and development.
• Costing & Negotiation – Should-cost analysis, RFQ evaluation, price negotiation, tooling/NRE and VA/VE.
• Quality Knowledge – APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plan, 8D, RCA, CAPA and supplier audits.
• Planning & Inventory Management – MRP, capacity planning, lead-time management, MOQ, safety stock and shortage management.
• SAP/ERP Skills – PR, RFQ, PO, GRN, MRP, BOM, vendor management and material tracking.
• Data Analysis & KPI Management – Advanced Excel, supplier performance analysis, OTD, PPM, cost reduction and inventory KPIs.
