Job summary

Pasona in India seeks an experienced Production Buyer to manage material planning and supplier schedules for auto-component manufacturing. Requires a BE in mechanical engineering with 4+ years in production buying and strong SAP MM, Kanban, JIT, and line balancing expertise.

You will ensure on-time deliveries, maintain inventory within norms, and coordinate with internal teams and suppliers to meet production needs, while contributing to process improvements and ISO standards adherence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with minimum 4 years of experience in Production Buyer in a manufacturing set-up—preferably auto-component industry.
• English written/verbal communication knowledge and Local Language.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision; demonstrate initiative and suggest process improvements.
• Familiarity with Kanban, JIT, Tack time, line balancing, capacity analysis & data analysis methods.
• Planning tools SAP MM-SAP, Vendor management System.
• Knowledge of QC, Kaizen, IATF, ISO 45001 & ISO 14001.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Material planning and releasing regular schedules for items from suppliers aligned to the production plan and inventories.
• Maintain vigorous follow-up with customers and in-house teams to ensure timely materials.
• Plan and issue supplier schedules based on sales forecast and maintain inventory within norms for uninterrupted production.
• Maintain overall material accountability for subcontract and in-house parts and inventory levels.
• Experience with SAP and vendor management systems; manage supplier data.
• Set inventory goals and budgets; assess lead times and supplier capacity.
• Coordinate with other departments to update material needs for projects and adjust plans as needed.
• Contribute to shop planning/scheduling and loading strategies with cross-functional teams.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSBILITIES

• Capability to do material planning and release regular schedules for various items on suppliers for supplying the items keeping in view the Production plan and the inventories.
• Ability to maintain a vigorous follow-up with customer and in-house team & ability to influence team members and ensuring receipt of materials on time and in required quantities.
• Responsible for material planning & issuing supplier schedule based on sales forecast and ensuring maintenance of inventory within agreed norms and ensuring uninterrupted supplies to production lines with 100% of on-time delivery.
• Overall material accountability for both subcontract & in-house parts. & Capability maintain overall inventory levels within targeted norms
• Should have worked on SAP & vendor management packages and should have managed supplier related data.
• Prepares inventory management goals and statistics, material input budget.
• Ability to assess and verify lead times of suppliers processes and capability to assess supplier's capacity.
• Awareness of commercial implications in dealing with sub-contractors.
• Acumen for material reconciliation.
• Executes the daily operations of the customer services, distribution, import/export and order processing systems.
• Good communication & Negotiation skills.
• Coordinate with managers to execute the launch of new logistics/distribution systems.
• Coordinates and interfaces with other divisional departments in preparation and maintenance of program schedules.
• Establishes policies, standards, procedures and systems for material planning and control of all programs.
• Communicates with relevant departments to update their material needs for production projects and alters material plans and schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
• Determine priorities to match available supply to demands to achieve established customer contract obligations and operational business goals.
• Provide advice and support to business leaders and cross-functional organizers regarding shop planning/scheduling/loading strategy and tactical activities.
• Will also be responsible for planning and purchasing of indirect materials as well as direct raw materials.
