Job summary

Bajaj Auto Limited seeks a senior motorcycle design leader to drive concept development from ideation to production. The role requires strong aesthetics, ergonomics, and technical feasibility aligned with brand identity and market trends.

Collaborating with engineering, product planning, and prototyping teams, you will guide design reviews, mentor designers, and ensure designs meet manufacturing and regulatory requirements while pushing innovation across 125cc–500cc ranges and beyond.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Transportation Design, Industrial Design, Automotive Design, or related field.
• Typically 8–10+ years of design experience, preferably in motorcycle design with 3+ production projects.

The candidate should be responsible for leading motorcycle styling and concept development from initial ideation to production. The role focuses on creating innovative, aesthetically appealing, ergonomic, and technically feasible designs aligned with brand identity, customer expectations, and market trends (product brief)

The candidate will collaborate closely with engineering, product development and other cross-functional teams to ensure that design concepts meet styling, ergonomic, performance, safety, quality, and production company product brief requirements.

Good understanding of motorcycles in the range of 125cc to 500cc, and above.

Scooter and electric power-plant understanding will be a added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead motorcycle concept development, styling, and design refinement.
• Create sketches, digital renderings, 3D models, and design presentations.
• Ensure rider ergonomics, functionality, and effective vehicle packaging.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, product planning, and prototyping teams.
• Validate design feasibility, manufacturability, cost, and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct market research, competitor benchmarking, and design trend analysis.
• Lead design reviews, mentor junior designers, and manage project deliverables.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Transportation Design, Industrial Design, Automotive Design, or a related field.
• Typically, 8 –10+ years of relevant design experience, preferably in motorcycle design while having achieved a minimum number of 3 motorcycle projects in production.
• Strong passion for motorcycle with a good background of motorcycle’s model history.
• Proficiency in design tools such as free hand sketch, Photoshop, Alias, Blender, and rendering software, as applicable.
• Strong skills in sketching, 3D surfacing visualization, strong experience in physical 3D modelling development (clay) to unsure high level of surface quality while being able to absorb manufacturing requirements.
• Excellent presentation skills using modern Ai software and media.
• Good understanding of motorcycle architecture (layout and packaging), manufacturing processes, design-to-cost and design-for-manufacturing principles.
• Strong creative thinking, communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• English proficiency at B2 level or above, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Work Location

Work will be performed at the Bajaj Auto Thailand Studio.

Note: Business trips to India will be required upon to projects requirement, typically 3 weeks every three months.

Reporting and Collaboration

The candidate will report to the Thailand Studio Design Head and to the Bajaj Auto Chief Design Officer.

The candidate will work closely with European, Asian and Indian design team members, engineering, product planning, manufacturing, and prototyping teams.

Role Objective

To develop distinctive, customer-focused, and production-ready motorcycle designs for Bajaj Auto LTD, on its global market that enhance rider experience, strengthen brand identity, and meet business and technical objectives.
