Job summary

Airtel invites an experienced telecom project leader to drive the deployment and integration of strategic fiber infrastructure, including data center connectivity, backbone transport networks, and collector ring architectures. Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Telecommunications, Electronics, Electrical Engineering or related field.

• Lead end-to-end deployment of fiber connectivity projects (data center interconnects, backhaul, collector ring).
• Coordinate survey, ROW, civil works, design approvals, and vendor management.

Job description

Role Purpose

Lead the deployment and integration of strategic fiber infrastructure projects, including data center connectivity, backbone transport networks, and collector ring architectures. Ensure timely execution of fiber rollout programs through effective coordination of survey, right-of-way (ROW), civil works, design approvals, vendor management, and project governance while meeting quality, cost, and timeline objectives.

Ensure timely execution of fiber rollout programs through effective coordination of survey, right-of-way (ROW), civil works, design approvals, vendor management, and project governance while meeting quality, cost, and timeline objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end deployment of strategic fiber connectivity projects, including data center interconnects, backbone transport networks, and collector ring infrastructure.
• Ensure alignment of deployment activities with network architecture, transport planning, capacity expansion, and business requirements.
• Manage project lifecycle from feasibility assessment, survey, design approval, ROW acquisition, and execution through successful integration and commissioning.
• Drive execution timelines and monitor project progress to ensure adherence to committed milestones and deployment schedules.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders including Planning, Operations, Transport, Core Network, Project Management, and external vendors to ensure seamless delivery.
• Oversee civil works execution, fiber laying activities, route readiness, quality compliance, and restoration requirements.
• Monitor vendor performance against contractual obligations, delivery schedules, quality standards, and SLA commitments.
• Track project risks, dependencies, and bottlenecks, implementing corrective actions to ensure uninterrupted project execution.
• Validate network designs, route plans, BOQ approvals, and implementation strategies to optimize deployment cost and efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, safety standards, and regulatory guidelines related to fiber deployment projects.
• Prepare and present weekly, monthly, and executive-level progress dashboards highlighting deployment status, risks, achievements, and key management updates.
• Support management reviews by providing project analytics, deployment trends, and recommendations for improving execution effectiveness.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in telecommunications infrastructure deployment, with a strong focus on optical fiber rollout projects and backhaul network deployment.
• Strong understanding of transport networks, fiber architectures, collector rings, and data center connectivity.
• Experience in survey management, ROW coordination, civil execution, fiber laying, integration, and project commissioning.
• Expertise in project planning, milestone tracking, risk management, and stakeholder coordination.
• Strong vendor management and contract execution experience.
• Proficiency in project reporting, progress tracking, and dashboard preparation.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Educational Qualification

• B.E./B.Tech in Telecommunications, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
• PMP/Prince2 or equivalent project management certification will be an added advantage.

Preferred Experience

• 8-12 years of experience in telecom network deployment, fiber rollout, transport network implementation, or infrastructure project management.
• Experience in large-scale fiber deployment programs, data center connectivity projects, and transport/backhaul network expansion initiatives.
