Job summary

Tata Communications is seeking an experienced telecom engineer in Chennai to drive fibre planning, design and As-built documentation. You will update GIS systems, coordinate with on-shore field engineers and suppliers, and ensure timely delivery of projects while maintaining high quality standards.

The role requires a technical/engineering degree with 4–12 years of experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to present in customer and internal meetings.

• Support Fiber Planning and Design
• Update GIS with As-built documents received
• Coordinate with on-shore field engineers and suppliers to complete assigned works on time
• Maintain SLA and FTR 100%
• Produce detailed design documents (HLD, LLD, As-built) and update Inventory Management Systems
• Design telecom industry practices/standards for fibre construction costs
• Present slides in customer and internal meetings
• Handle new builds, customer connections, network upgrades and diversions
• Drive continual improvement in costs, timescales and quality

Broad outline of the Role

• Responsible for driving day to day system and service engineering and operations. This is an operational role within Fibre services to Plan, Design andAsbuilt the Fibre assets inGIS tools that may seekappropriate levelof guidance and advice to ensure delivery of quality outcomes.

• To co-ordinate with On-shore Field engineers and Suppliers to complete the Assigned works on time.

• Design of the telecommunications industry and its practices/standardsregardingthe fibre construction costs to build an optical network
• Must have skills in defining, evaluating, solving, and presenting alternatives to complex engineering problems and in applying engineering and economic principles while conducting studies and surveys toanalyzea technical system or design

Technical Competencies

• Candidate should Know about Telecom network Architecture and its components, should have detailed knowledge on Optical Fiber Network and Geographical information system and its tools such as Auto CAD, Small world etc. Should have detailed knowledge about Fiber planning, Designing and As-builts, Quantity Surveying and Supplier management.
• Candidate should have good Communication skills to have different level of conversations with the on-shore / Off-shore stake holders.
