Job summary

DEIC-L&T Precision Engineering & Systems IC, Coimbatore Campus, seeks a qualified maintenance engineer to lead preventive maintenance for SMT equipment. You will plan PM cycles, monitor MTBF/MTTR, coordinate with production and engineering, and drive improvements to reduce downtime.

The role requires BE with 5-8 years of relevant experience, strong calibration and maintenance planning skills, and a focus on safety and equipment reliability in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• BE with 5-8 years of experience in maintenance of SMT equipment.
• Experience in PM planning and calibration activities.
• Knowledge of MTBF/MTTR metrics and equipment downtime reduction.
• Ability to coordinate with Production and Engineering teams.
• Strong focus on safety, ESD and equipment maintenance standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and monitor preventive maintenance activities for SMT equipment and supporting machines.
• Prepare and execute PM plans daily, weekly, monthly and annually per manufacturer guidance.
• Coordinate with Production and Engineering to plan PM without production disruption.
• Monitor breakdowns, MTBF/MTTR and machine availability; drive improvements.
• Ensure timely closure of breakdowns, PM and machine-related issues.
• Coordinate with OEMs, suppliers and service engineers for support and repairs.
• Maintain PM checklists, maintenance records and machine history.
• Identify critical spare parts and manage stocking levels and procurement.
• Ensure proper storage, traceability and preservation of spare parts.
• Review breakdown trends and promote predictive/preventive maintenance.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities (R&R)

• Lead and monitor preventive maintenance (PM) activities for all SMT equipment and supporting machines.
• Prepare and execute daily, weekly, monthly and annual PM plans as per machine manufacturer recommendations.
• Coordinate with Production and Engineering to plan PM activities without affecting production schedules.
• Monitor equipment breakdowns, MTBF, MTTR and machine availability and drive improvement actions.
• Ensure timely closure of breakdown, PM and machine-related open issues.
• Coordinate with OEMs, suppliers and service engineers for technical support, machine troubleshooting and major repairs.
• Maintain and update PM checklists, maintenance records, machine history and calibration records.
• Identify critical equipment and critical spare parts based on machine failure history and lead time.
• Maintain adequate minimum/maximum stock levels for critical spare parts and consumables.
• Monitor spare part consumption, stock levels, ageing and non-moving spares.
• Coordinate with Purchase/Stores for timely procurement of required spare parts.
• Ensure proper storage, identification, traceability and preservation of spare parts.
• Review breakdown trends and identify opportunities for predictive/preventive maintenance.
• Train and develop technicians on PM procedures, troubleshooting and equipment handling.
• Ensure compliance with safety, ESD and equipment maintenance standards.
• Drive cost reduction through spare optimization, repair/reuse and preventive replacement.
