Job summary

Cyient Limited in Pune district seeks an experienced PLC/automation engineer to lead end-to-end development of industrial control software, from requirements analysis to commissioning support. You will design and review control logic across PLC platforms such as Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider, Mitsubishi, Beckhoff, and CODESYS, and develop HMI/SCADA applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
• 8–12 years of experience in industrial automation/control systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end development of PLC software from requirements to commissioning support.
• Design and review control logic across platforms (Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider, Mitsubishi, Beckhoff, CODESYS).
• Design and integrate HMI/SCADA applications.
• Define and implement industrial communication interfaces (Profinet, Profibus, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP/RTU, OPC UA, IO-Link, CAN).
• Prepare and review FDS, software design documents, I/O lists, test protocols (FAT/SAT), and commissioning reports.
• Lead FAT/SAT activities, on-site commissioning, and troubleshooting; provide escalation-level field support.
• Mentor and guide a team of PLC/automation engineers; enforce coding standards and reusable libraries.
• Estimate effort, plan work packages, track progress, and report to stakeholders.
• Interface with electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation teams to align software with system design.
• Strong hands-on PLC programming and HMI/SCADA integration expertise.
• Solid understanding of industrial networks and fieldbus protocols.

Job description

• Lead the end-to-end development of PLC software: requirement analysis, architecture, logic design, coding, simulation, testing, and commissioning support.
• Develop and review control logic using languages (Ladder Diagram, Function Block Diagram, Structured Text, SFC) on platforms such as Siemens, Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Schneider, Mitsubishi, Beckhoff, or CODESYS.
• Design and integrate HMI/SCADA applications.
• Define and implement industrial communication interfaces: Profinet, Profibus, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP/RTU, OPC UA, IO-Link, CAN.
• Prepare and review engineering documentation: functional design specifications (FDS), software design documents, I/O lists, test protocols (FAT/SAT), and commissioning reports.
• Lead FAT/SAT activities, on-site commissioning, and troubleshooting; provide escalation-level support for field issues.
• Ensure compliance with functional safety standards and relevant industry regulations.
• Mentor and technically guide a team of PLC/automation engineers; conduct code reviews, enforce coding standards, and drive reusable software libraries.
• Estimate effort, plan software work packages, track progress, and report to all stakeholders.
• Interface with electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation teams to align control software with the overall system design.
• Strong hands-on expertise in PLC programming.
• Proficiency in HMI/SCADA development and integration.

• Experience with servo/motion control, VFDs, drives, robotics interfacing, and safety PLCs.
• Knowledge of electrical schematics, P&IDs, I/O sizing, and panel design fundamentals.
• Proven ability to lead and mentor a small-to-mid-sized engineering team.
• Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills, especially under commissioning/field pressure.
• Effective communication with customers, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Ownership mindset with strong planning, estimation, and delivery discipline.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline
• 8–12 years of experience in industrial automation/control systems
