Job summary

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. seeks a Lead - Capacity Planning (Vehicle Systems) in Mumbai to drive long-term capacity planning and readiness.

You will coordinate with Sourcing, SCM, SQE, CDMM, Product Development, and suppliers to mitigate capacity risks and ensure continuity for current and future programs. You will map supplier capacity, identify bottlenecks, and lead cross-functional reviews to enable capacity creation and industrialization aligned with program launches.

Qualifications

• Bachelor level technical degree in engineering (BTech/BE) or equivalent.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with business mindset.
• Experience in automotive sourcing, capacity planning or manufacturing excellence preferred.

Lead Capacity Planning for the Automotive Division by ensuring long-term supply chain readiness, mitigating supplier capacity risks, enabling capacity creation, and strengthening business continuity for current and future programs. Act as the central interface between Sourcing, SCM, SQE, CDMM, Product Development, and suppliers for capacity planning and risk management.

1. Capacity Planning & Readiness

• Drive long-term capacity planning aligned with production and business growth plans.
• Establish supplier capacity mapping and readiness assessment across critical commodities and platforms.
• Identify capacity constraints, risks, and bottlenecks; develop and execute mitigation plans.
• Lead supplier capacity enhancement projects and monitor execution through launch and stabilization phases.
• Govern capacity readiness for new product programs and growth initiatives.

2. New Project Capacity & Industrialization

• Lead capacity assessments for new and carry-over parts during sourcing and project approval stages.
• Ensure supplier manufacturing readiness, investment adequacy, and capacity feasibility.
• Drive cross-functional reviews and track industrialization and capacity commissioning plans.

3. Supply Chain Risk Management & Business Continuity

• Develop capacity risk dashboards and early warning mechanisms.
• Identify vulnerable and single-source supply situations and drive alternate sourcing strategies.
• Lead contingency planning and proactively manage supply chain risks to ensure business continuity.

4. Supply Disruption & Capacity Challenge Resolution

• Support resolution of critical supply issues arising from capacity constraints.
• Drive debottlenecking and capacity improvement initiatives at supplier locations.
• Lead reviews and closure of key supply chain and capacity-related issues.
• Build strong partnerships with key suppliers and influence capacity investment decisions.
• Support supplier evaluation from a scalability and capacity perspective.
• Promote best practices in capacity planning, productivity, and manufacturing excellence.

6. Governance & Functional Leadership

• Establish standard processes, tools, and governance mechanisms for capacity planning.
• Drive leadership reviews on capacity readiness, risks, and mitigation plans.
• Mentor teams and strengthen organizational capability in supplier capacity assessment and risk evaluation.
• Capacity readiness for current and future business requirements.
• Early identification and mitigation of supplier capacity risks.
• Successful execution of supplier capacity enhancement initiatives.
