Job summary

Live Connections is seeking an experienced Piping Engineering Team Lead in Coimbatore to lead piping design for large Oil & Gas projects. You will oversee engineering execution, resource planning, technical reviews, schedules and budgets, ensuring compliance with codes and standards.

The role requires 12+ years in Piping Engineering with 8+ years in a Lead role, strong experience in PDMS/AVEVA E3D, and exposure to FEED and EPC environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 12+ years of relevant experience in Piping Engineering/Design.
• Minimum 8 years in a Lead Piping Design/Engineering role.
• Strong Oil & Gas and Production Facilities experience.
• Exposure to Onshore, Offshore and FPSO projects is preferred.

• Lead engineers and designers to deliver piping activities within schedule, budget, and quality.
• Plan, organize, and manage piping scope, deliverables, and resources.
• Review ITB documents, client specs, technical requirements and project scope.
• Develop and review layouts, piping isometrics, plots, and equipment layouts.

Piping Engineering Team Lead

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Piping Engineering Team Lead to lead piping engineering and design activities for medium to large-scale Oil & Gas projects. The role will be responsible for engineering execution, resource planning, technical reviews, project schedules, budgets, quality, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams, vendors, contractors, and clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead engineers and designers to deliver piping engineering activities within planned schedule, budget, quality, codes, and standards.
• Plan, organize, and manage piping engineering scope, deliverables, manpower, resources, and project execution.
• Monitor project progress, productivity, actual cost versus budget, and on-time delivery of piping deliverables.
• Lead piping engineering activities across FEED, proposal, and detailed engineering phases.
• Review ITB documents, client specifications, technical requirements, and project scope.
• Prepare and review material requisitions, enquiry requisitions, technical bid evaluations, purchase requisitions, and vendor documentation.
• Develop and review equipment layouts, plot plans, piping layouts, isometrics, general arrangements, and piping specifications.
• Review and approve piping design deliverables, 3D models, piping drawings, IDC documents, and vendor drawings.
• Ensure piping designs comply with project specifications, applicable codes, standards, and approved design practices.
• Provide technical guidance on piping design, material selection, pipe supports, installation methods, and piping systems.
• Review piping BOM, MTO, valve lists, valve data sheets, and piping material requirements.
• Coordinate with process, mechanical, civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation, and other engineering disciplines.
• Coordinate with vendors, contractors, third-party engineering consultants, and construction teams.
• Support statutory approval drawings and documentation for piping systems.
• Conduct technical evaluations, feasibility studies, design reviews, and risk assessments.
• Support construction, site engineering, inspection, troubleshooting, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities.
• Participate in project meetings, model reviews, design reviews, and coordination meetings.
• Provide support to sales and contracts teams during proposals and tendering activities.
• Prepare/review man-hour estimates and support subcontractor evaluation.
• Identify cost-effective engineering solutions and opportunities for overall project cost reduction.
• Mentor, guide, and conduct performance reviews for engineers and designers.
• Ensure compliance with project HSSE requirements and promote a safe working environment.
• Maintain lessons learned, engineering quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor\'s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 12+ years of relevant experience in Piping Engineering / Piping Design.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in a Lead Piping Design / Engineering role.
• Strong experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
• Experience in Production Facilities Engineering.
• Exposure to Onshore, Offshore, and FPSO projects/modules is preferred.
• Experience supporting construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities.

Required Technical Expertise

• Strong expertise in Piping Layout, Piping Design, Pipe Supports, and Piping Engineering.
• Hands-on experience with PDMS / AVEVA E3D.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or CADWorx.
• Strong understanding of Piping Stress Analysis and piping design requirements.
• Knowledge of international standards and codes such as ASME, ANSI, and API.
• Experience in 3D Model Review, Piping Isometrics, Plot Plans, Equipment Layouts, and Vendor Drawing Review.
• Knowledge of piping materials, valve selection, piping specifications, BOM/MTO, and procurement deliverables.
• Strong understanding of FEED and detailed engineering processes.
• Good project planning, team management, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
