Job summary

Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM) in Hyderabad is seeking a Lab Technician to prepare and calibrate equipment, assist faculty and students, and maintain safety standards during practical sessions.

The role requires B. Tech (Civil) or 2–3 years of industrial experience, plus basic computer knowledge to manage records and inventories. The incumbent will support research, coordinate with staff, and ensure equipment is maintained.

Qualifications

• Lab technician qualification should be B. Tech (Civil) or should have 2-3 years of industrial experience.
• Desirable basic computer knowledge and data entry skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, set up, and calibrate laboratory equipment and instruments before practical sessions.
• Ensure all laboratory equipment is functional and in good working condition.
• Report any breakdowns, malfunctions, or need for external servicing to the Lab In-charge/HOD.
• Assist faculty and students during laboratory sessions, demonstrations, and experiments.
• Provide hands-on guidance to students in handling instruments, tools, and materials.
• Support research and consultancy activities by fabricating/testing setups as required
• Coordinate with the Lab In-charge and faculty for smooth conduct of practical classes
• Maintain lab manuals, records of student attendance login register, and logbooks of equipment usage.
• Conduct periodic safety checks and support in risk assessments.
• Maintain stock registers and other records of laboratory consumables, spares, and equipment inventory.
