Job summary

SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) in Palnadu, Andhra Pradesh, India, seeks a Civil Engineering Laboratory Technician to collect and prepare soil, concrete, aggregate, and bitumen samples and conduct standard tests in a NABL-compliant lab.

The role requires a Diploma/B.Tech in Civil Engineering and knowledge of soil mechanics, concrete technology, and bitumen testing methods. Candidates with lab experience will be preferred for rigorous testing and reporting tasks.

Qualifications

• Diploma/B.Tech in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
• Strong understanding of basic civil engineering concepts, materials, and testing procedures.
• Knowledge of soil mechanics, concrete technology, aggregate properties, and bitumen testing methods.

Responsibilities

• Collect and prepare soil, concrete, aggregate, and bitumen samples according to project specs.
• Conduct soil tests such as moisture content, compaction, grain size analysis, pH, and organic content.
• Perform material tests including concrete compressive strength, aggregate testing, bitumen testing, density, and moisture analysis.
• Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure accurate test results.
• Record test data accurately and maintain logbooks; prepare detailed reports for senior staff.
• Follow NABL guidelines to ensure consistency and compliance.
• Assist in sample preparation tasks such as mixing, curing, molding, and sieving.
• Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment and adhere to PPE requirements.
• Identify testing errors or equipment issues and report to senior technicians or engineers.
• Support senior lab personnel in routine testing activities and quality control.

• Perform material tests including concrete compressive strength, aggregate testing, bitumen testing, density, and moisture analysis.
• Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
• Record test data accurately, maintain logbooks, and prepare detailed test reports for review by senior staff.
• Follow quality standards and testing protocols (NABL guidelines) to ensure consistency and compliance.
• Assist in sample preparation tasks such as mixing, curing, molding, and sieving as required for different tests.
• Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment and ensure adherence to safety procedures and PPE requirements.
• Identify testing errors, equipment issues, or anomalies and report them promptly to senior technicians or engineers.
• Support senior lab personnel in routine testing activities, quality control procedures, and efficient workflow management.
