Job summary

VIT is seeking a lab assistant in the Mechanical Engineering department to support faculty and students during lab sessions, set up and maintain equipment, and ensure calibration and safety standards. The role involves handling precision instruments such as Nano Indenter and DMA, maintaining records, and assisting in procurement and inventory management.

The ideal candidate has a Diploma or BE/BTech in Mechanical Engineering, strong attention to detail, and good teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• Diploma / BE / BTech in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

• Assist faculty and students during laboratory sessions and demonstrations.
• Prepare, set up, and maintain lab equipment, tools, and experiments.
• Handle instruments and equipment with high precision and care to ensure accurate results.
• Ensure strict adherence to calibration standards and safety protocols at all times.
• Perform regular calibration and maintenance of lab machines and tools.
• Operate and maintain sophisticated instruments such as Nano Indenter and DMA.
• Inspect equipment periodically and report faults or repair needs.
• Maintain lab records, inventory, and equipment usage logs.
• Support installation, troubleshooting, and minor repairs of lab equipment.
• Ensure cleanliness, organization, and safety compliance in the lab.
• Assist in procurement and stock management of lab materials and consumables.
