Job Description

The Junior Consultant – ICU supports the assessment, diagnosis, and management of critically ill patients while working within the hospitals clinical governance and reporting structure. The involves reviewing patient conditions, developing and implementing treatment plans within authorized responsibilities, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and supervising clinical activities as appropriate. The Junior Consultant contributes to emergency response, patient safety, clinical documentation, and quality improvement in intensive care services.

• Assess critically ill patients and review their medical histories.
• Conduct clinical examinations and evaluate diagnostic findings.
• Develop and implement treatment plans within professional qualifications and hospital authorization.
• Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as clinically indicated.
• Participate in ICU rounds and multidisciplinary case discussions.
• Review laboratory results, imaging, and other diagnostic investigations.
• Recognize and manage critical deterioration and life-threatening conditions.
• Coordinate emergency interventions and resuscitation activities.
• Supervise and guide resident medical officers within assigned responsibilities.
• Coordinate with nursing, respiratory therapy, and other clinical teams.
• Review medication regimens and monitor treatment-related complications.
• Support decisions regarding ventilatory support and organ support as appropriate to qualifications.
• Ensure accurate and timely clinical documentation.
