Job Description

The Intensive Care Nursing Staff - Trauma provides specialized nursing care to patients suffering from serious injuries and trauma requiring immediate stabilization and intensive monitoring. The includes trauma assessment, emergency interventions, airway and respiratory support, medication administration, wound and postoperative care, continuous monitoring, documentation, and coordination with trauma surgeons and multidisciplinary teams.

  • Perform rapid nursing assessment of trauma patients upon arrival.
  • Monitor vital signs, consciousness, oxygen saturation, and neurological status.
  • Assist with primary and secondary trauma assessments.
  • Administer prescribed medications, IV fluids, blood products, and emergency treatments.
  • Establish and maintain IV access and other required lines.
  • Assist doctors with airway management and emergency procedures.
  • Support CPR, resuscitation, and trauma stabilization protocols.
  • Monitor patients receiving oxygen, ventilation, or other respiratory support.
  • Observe for signs of shock, bleeding, neurological deterioration, and other complications.
  • Assist with wound care, dressing, splinting, immobilization, and postoperative care.
  • Monitor drains, catheters, surgical sites, and other clinical devices.
  • Prepare trauma equipment, emergency drugs, blood products, and supplies.
  • Assist during emergency surgeries and bedside procedures as required.
  • Coordinate laboratory, imaging, blood bank, and other diagnostic services.
  • Maintain accurate trauma nursing records and treatment documentation.
  • Follow strict infection control, aseptic techniques, and patient safety practices.
  • Coordinate with trauma surgeons, intensivists, anesthetists, and other specialists.
  • Provide appropriate pain management support and patient comfort measures.
  • Communicate patient condition and treatment progress during shift handovers.
  • Maintain patient dignity, confidentiality, and compliance with hospital protocols.
